Which brings us to the hero’s heart. There was little to stop the disease from spreading further. Governments weren’t equipped to respond; the World Health Organization was in denial and snarled in red tape. First responders were accused of crying wolf, even as the danger grew. But the people in the field, the special forces of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), the Christian medical-relief workers of Samaritan’s Purse and many others from all over the world fought side by side with local doctors and nurses, ambulance drivers and burial teams.

That's some of the best news I've heard in the news in a long time.

I hold those medical personnel in high regard. Actually, I think extremely highly of the whole team of medical professionals working together everyday, from the surgeons to the nurses to the nurses aids. I hold these people in higher esteem in general, than I do cops or military people or politicians and celebrities.

Actually, I often have higher emotional feelings for medical people then I do religious clergy.

When the hospital people saved my life, patched me up, after a cop shot me 3 times, it was the first time in my life I experienced real Christian charity. And for all I know the people helping me to the bathroom, wiping my butt, washing me, giving me medication, operating on me surgically, could have been Buddhists, atheists, or Jewish.

It's easy to bomb someone, stab someone, kick someone, or shoot someone. But it is a lot harder to heal someone and try to manage or take away their pain.

I am not much for picking individuals as person of the year, best artist, etc.

The fight against such a deadly disease is noteworthy, but there are many other people and groups that deserve praise or infamy.

Time speaks their popular opinion. Decent choice. No real problem for I.
