Time for a change

Studies show that most university students will change their major several times before graduating. So I wanted to know how many times everyone here had changed and what the various changes were.

I was undecided the first semester of my freshman year. Then I switched to interdisciplinary studies because I wanted to teach. Then I switched to English and Spanish because I wanted to teach at the secondary level. Then I transferred to another university and dropped the English major in order to add secondary certification and an ESL endorsement.

So I started out as undecided and ended up a Spanish major with teacher certification and ESL endorsement as my minor!

I didn't switch majors so much as add them.

I started with one major, added two more, and downgraded one to a minor. So what's my vote?

I started out not knowing what I was going to major in. After a year and a half of gen eds I chose accounting. After a year of that I thought that I'd want to switch it to nutrition...but only after a semester of that I switched back to accounting. I'm going to stick with accounting b/c it's a GREAT job market. I can graduate and get a good job in it..and then I can always go back and take classes if something else catches my interest.

Switched from Music to Chemistry to Religious Studies, and added Philosophy to that. So 3 times.

Three, but I'm still not sure if I want journalism or English. It's kind of nice because while I'm trying to decide, I get to continue getting experience doing everything. I'm on staff at my school paper but I'm considering taking Spanish and creative writing, with the paper on the side.

I changed my major 11 times! I switched to and from my current major four times, but I am sticking to it this time! I swear!

I switched from education to nursing and I'm 100% loving nursing!

lol. I went into college intending to do computer engineering, but switched to bio-engineering and added pre-med to the list at the end of my freshman year. I've been with bio-engineering/pre-med since then

I started in veterinary technology and switched to psychology.

I'm in music ed, and thought of switching numerous times, but never got up the gall, mostly because I can't think of anything I'd switch to. I want to stay in music, but I'm not so sure about the ed stuff.

Sure, I want to let kids know about music, but being forced to go through all these rigorous background checks, medical tests, Praxis tests (I have to take 5, and will end up spending $200+ on them), hardcore job interviews for which I need to write multi-page essays about vague, subjective topics...and then I get shafted with a $20,000 or less salary and I get blamed for bad parenting. I JUST DON'T KNOW.[/rant]

Computer science from day one. I don't change my mind often.

Though I will add that I plan on taking another field of study after I graduate from this one.

I went from Advertising & PR, To Journalism, to Accounting to Criminal Justice...

hm... well i'm a theology major right now and if i can actually find another decent school to transfer too i'd like to stick with being a theology major, but we'll see how things work out

I also wanna study foriegn languages and linguistics at some point, but that may not be for a while yet

I swtiched my major 3 times, only because I was trying to convince my parents the major I wanted to do was decent.
