  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have been feeling as thought the Lord is leading me to a specific job and a specific place, but not certain as to if it is His will for sure. I have sent out a letter of inquiry to this company for working with this specific person and am just not sure about if I should call to do a follow up. Would that be taking it into my hands or just simply doing all that I can? I know if it is His will for me He will work it out so that it takes place and I don't want to be interferring with His work in trying to make it happen my way or in my time.
Any thoughts on this and also if I did call what should I say? This is my first time sending a letter of inquiry and I am not sure what to say in following up on it. I have read on my sites that it is not a good idea to just call and say you are checking on the letter of inquiry. Any thoughts on what to say would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you.

If God is leading you to the job, then absolutely do all you can to get it. If He wants you to get the job, it will be yours. If not, there's nothing you can do to get it. But, it is still your responsibility to do all you are able to do.

As far as when to call and what to say, I don't think anyone can tell you what is best, not knowing you, the job or the people involved. Be in deep prayer and meditation on all of it and ask God to guide you in all you say and do. Then listen carefully. He will show you the way.

Good luck!

Take it to the Lord in prayer and ask Him.

Ask the Lord for discernment and peace if He wants you to call.

Lord, should I call? Give me Your peace if this would be a good idea.

If the peace of the Lord rises up then do it.
If you feel nothing different then don't do it.

Sometimes we feel like we need to help the Lord do His will and
other times it is God prompting us to act but either way God will
speak to us by His perfect peace if we will bring our request to Him
and give Him a chance to guide us.

Philippians 4:7
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

I for one don't believe in the Grand Socialist in the Sky that will force you or order you to take a job. You're not His robot. You can make decisions for yourself. He has called you "friend."

He'll certainly show you some possibly good places to work, but nothing's stopping you from taking some jobs or ignoring others. He can help you with the decision, maybe even intervening directly (been there).

There's nothing wrong with finding out for yourself via a letter, that's called "being responsible."

If I desired a job working at a certain company or whatever I would
be on them like a bloodhound after an escaped prisoner.

Many years ago I did a lot of different jobs in the mid-80's when the
economy tanked in NC for a time-- I worked as a housecleaner,
private caregiver, I shopped for the elderly or those who were sick,
I did babysitting and I even washed dishes at a cafe...I didn't even
have a car back then, if I couldn't get a ride with somebody, I would
walk to and from work.

My prayer was: Lord help me find a better job and until then, I will work this one as
long as you enable me to...He covered all that.
