Hello everyone --
I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts/opinions on the Thompson Chain Reference Bible, specifically the NKJV. I was thinking about getting one of the leather bound editions, but I wanted to see what other folks had to say first.

Thanks for any input! God Bless.

I have the NIV edition and although it seemed like a good purchase, I hardly ever use it.
Also, if you plan on writing in it, beware, the paper quality is not that great...very thin pages. Also, with all the chain references, there is almost no room for notes anyway. If you like to highlight, then it will show clear through the page.

The TCR is difficult to use at first, but once you get the hang of it, it is one of the best study Bibles around. If you have the patience to figure out how to use the TCR, get it. You will probably be happy with it.

I am growing disenchanted with the study Bibles out there that have commentary in them, because they never have enough commentary for me. I tend to consult my library of commentaries rather than use standard study Bibles. So, I have gone to more speciality Bibles like parallel Bibles, interlinears, the TCR and the Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study Bible (my favorite).

I have the KJV and NIV TCRs, and the NIV Hebrew-Greek Key Word Bible (comes in KJV, NASB, NIV).

God bless you in your studies.

In Him,
Dave

I have so much in common with Dave, it's almost scary. I have a TCR KJV and I LOVE IT! It was my first study bible and because of the lack of commentary, I went throught this 5 year phase where I bought like every study bible imaginable! Then I got a wide-margin kjv which I love but I need at least the outline and general idea of a book I am reading handy. I have come full circle back to my TCR as my main bible. It can be very hard to take notes in the margins BUT IT IS POSSIBLE! I use it with my comparitive parallel (KJV, NIV, NLT, NASB). I sometimes refer to the Hebrew-Greek Key Word Study bible KJV, Newberry study bible, and occasionally the Companion Study bible to get help with Hebrew and Greek.
