I wasn't a mason, but when I was a kid, I was in a masonic fraternity called the Order of DeMolay. Relatively nice group, although its dying now, and may already be nonexistant as far as I know.

In order to join, you had to believe in a God, so presumably, a Muslim could be a member ... not that I ever saw one ... but not an athiest. We had a Bible we swore on and the like, but beyond that ...

The Masons sponsored us, and at least one mason had to be on our advisory council, but really, beyond that, we didn't do too much with them. They were in their own world. Seemed like nice people for the ost part, but on the other hand, i did NOT become a mason myself because of the actions of one of their members towards me.

What specifically did you want to know about them?

I don't know a lot about them. This one thing I understand is that they are secret society. Members take secret oaths, which once having sworn a commitment to, the member is bound to for life.

I worked for a Cemetery Company for a while and the Masons had their own section in the cemetery. I was told that a Mason was to be buried in that area but his wife and family could not be buried with him.

Most, if not all Evangelical Church members can not be members of the masons, because most Evangelical church do not agree with members belonging to a secret organization.

I was curious as to what people thought because I am a Freemason and a Minister. I'll be honest it does not contradict anything I believe as Christian. It has really made me more faithfull and more trusting of people.

Why is it so secretive? What have they got to hide?

Thats my main problem with them. I am suspicious because they try to hide so that must mean they have something to hide. How can that be a good thing.

Maybe its because I am a very open person and dont like seeing people excluded. I will head the the unorthodoy theology section to see what it is all about then I might be able to form more of an opinion.

My dh and I were in Eastern Star and White Shrine for decades and served many stations and offices locally and regionally. My mom was very upset when we joined but I really didn't see anything wrong with it and thought mom was “off” on this one. The people are sincere about the Lord. Eastern Star is based on Biblical women while White Shrine is based on Jesus. I believe that it drew us to the Lord. God knows our hearts and we felt fine about it.

However, in the last few months, the Lord told my dh that He is a jealous God and that He is not pleased about it.

It’s like Uzzah. His heart was in the right place but he didn't know how to handle God’s glory and found we have to do things God’s way.

If you’re interested in talking about this with my dh, a Mason, you can pm me. He doesn’t participate in forums but says he will talk with you about this.

I think Freemasonry is Satanic.
