I have written something that a fellow christian felt I should share, I am new to these forums, so if I post this incorrectly I apologize. I was informed that this was an important message, and that I should present it to the Christian community as soon as I possibly could. Here is what I wrote:
I have a theory about this world, one that is rarely discussed. It started with a realization about the Roman Coliseum: It was created as a distraction.
People flocked to it in droves, there was nothing like it ever seen before, it was the first of its kind. A distraction so grand that the people were fooled, and didn't care. As long as they could witness atrocities far worse that the ones they were experiencing in there own lives, they felt in some sick way empowered. Albeit, a false sense of empowerment, however this gave the Senators what they needed in order do what ever they wanted with impunity, barely a glance from the general masses would occur. Corruption could run rampant as long as the Coliseum was running twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Animals of all types were brought in for slaughter, battles recreated with no concern for the truth in the telling of whatever story they were fictionalizing, slaves slaughtered by Roman soldiers was the main concern. To any observer with a pure heart it must have been appalling. This concept as awful as it seems was crafted very early. It is a formula that to this day gives profound results, just on a grander scale.
"Its not the 50's anymore Charlie." this is so true. I never lived in the 50's but somehow wish I had. My perception is one true family "togetherness" one that is a sort of coming of age. The industrial revolution had long since ended, and now we were on the dawning of a new age, that age is here now, and collectively as a society, a planet, most have lost sight of what it means to care for one another.
The worlds population is growing at an exponential rate, every so many years the planets population gets more and more crowded. The homeless population, even in the city where I live, is getting larger and larger. Police drive by the homeless camps, usually ignoring them, even if one is getting beaten by another. So, what is our "Roman Coliseum"? Ask yourself that question.
It should not be hard to see. Look at the False Idols all around us. Things in the 50's had a purity to them, Superhero tales told moral stories meant to encourage people to lend a hand, be patient with one another , and teach right from wrong. Those same heroes now have been morphed into obscene caricatures of what they once were. Now Batman fights Superman, even they can't get along. Look at all the sports teams, sports are an important part of childhood development because it helps them learn team concepts, and how to work well with others. This too has morphed into an obscene obsession, children now idolize these sports stars, wish to be just like them. Fame and fortune? Who could resist the fantasy of such an illustrious life. It makes the average person seem boring. And with all this the the average person is tricked.
Faith becomes something that unless you have the good fortune of being blessed into a family of strong faith, the probability of that individual being lost to one, if not all of the Seven Deadly Sins is very, very high.
