Ps. 150 is brilliant.

I cant comment on what you are personally doing - that is your business before God.

I am a self taught semi classical guitarist and a trained singer. I came to a point in my christian walk when I dropped all music for 18 months, then made a vow to only perform that which furthers the gospel. But it is an individual walk and what is right for me is just that. What others do is their business. For those serious about their faith, I think that God calls to different sanctification depending on what they are called to do. This call is not always heeded.

I agree that the Holy Spirit convicts people differently on different things. But you originally made it appear that I might not even be saved for the music I listen to. I don't condemn you for that as you seem to be saying such out of a good desire rather than a sinful desire, however, like I say about Christian Black Metal being one of the most hated genres because it goes against the grain of both Christians and Satanist, that this is based on not properly understanding what the genre is actually for, what its purpose is.

I point out Psalm 150 because of specifically verse 5 which tells us to bang loud cymbals which is basically the equivalent of "extreme music". That's all.

Be blessed.

I think the genre you have mainly showcased is essentially a comedy genre.

A lot of ink has got spilled on the Theology Of Comedy.

I am sure the band in the OP has not considered their music a comedy.

Who said anything about hell? One must remember that the Holy Spirit dwells in the believer. If none of the fruits are present, it is probably because He is not there. Hence, I never knew you.
Be blessed.

Oh but I have the Holy spirit and I listen to Christian rock music...I didn't think that was an issue

I do avoid any music with unclean or evil lyrics

I agree with this. I run a YouTube channel where I review extreme Christian music. Sometimes the lyrics are hard to understand. As such I must know the lyrics before I review any album.

I believe every piece of music comes from a Spiritual perspective. What is IN the people who create such music is the spiritual nature of the music. It's why, so often, even pop music is some of the most ungodly music there is.

Well a soft heart towards Jesus is the key.

I have been told not to drink coffee and tea and I don't. That was a personal word - I guess He knew my metabolism couldn't handle it and He wants me to have a long life.

Avoid legalisms - seek a personal word.
I

God warned me about coffee so did my best to obey but one day I rebelled. Church coffee. a lovely rich milicano decaff. I had some more next Sunday thinking must have heard God wrong

I had been having sore joints especially hands wrists elbows. I didn't know why. After drinking coffee I started getting worse...I prayed and heard the words "inflammation". since cutting out coffee I ache a lot less, hardly at all. also told to cut out kidneys beans by God for same reason

I was speaking of those who produce rather than those who listen. Deception is far and wide. Christ's warning to us.

I occasionaly listen to music like Whiteheart, Petra, Sacred Warrior. But without a lyric sheet I would find it difficult to make out a lot of the words. For me that is sometimes true of a lot of music, not just heavy metal, and depends on the vocalist. A lot of early Petra albums had no lyric sheets and I certainly stuggled with making out the lyrics of several of their songs. I don't know if its just me has this difficulty making out words of songs at times (regardless of genre) - some people I have spoken to speak as though they never have a problem, I wonder if this is the case though?? I would not have been able to follow alot of the words of the OPs song, without the lyrics, which i read first, so its good they provide a lyric video.

Do you consider all music spiritually neutral?
All music is spiritual, but the spirit of the music is not determined by genre, but the heart of the writer/performer.

I had an experience many years ago at a Summer Christian music festival. They had a stage called the Edge Stage. They had groups like those described here playing at night there. I'm older, but I like heavy music. I brought a lawn chair and ear protection to sit in the back of the listening area and observe. The event drew a lot of young people, and it seemed that lots of unsaved kids had been invited. (just my perception) I spent several nights there listening. I really enjoyed it actually.

But here's the important thing. I noticed that the Spirit of God was heavy in that place. So thick I could cut it with a knife. I think there was a real spiritual battle going on there. God was reaching these young people that never would have entered a church to find him.

God can use any genre of music. We need to remember that the hymns Martin Luther wrote used melodies he borrowed from the local public houses (taverns). That is considered tame church music now.

I remember this from my own youth.
"Why should the devil have all the good music?" - Larry Norman

This was controversial when I was growing up. Seems pretty tame now.
What will today's music seem like fifty years from now?
Norman was an eccentric visionary whose songs drew controversy from both the conservative religious establishment and the secular music press for his lyrical mix of radical religious, political, and social themes. His 1969 solo album Upon This Rock was the first Christian rock record, and his milestone 1972 release Only Visiting This Planet is considered one of the best albums in the genre. His music was an influence on such diverse artists as U2, John Mellencamp, and the Pixies. "Larry was my door into the music business and he was the most Christlike person I ever met," former Pixies singer Frank Black said Monday upon hearing of Norman's passing. Time Magazine once called Norman "the most significant artist in his field." Over 300 cover versions of his songs have been recorded by artists such as Petula Clark, Sammy Davis, Jr., Frank Black, and Cliff Richard. His songs have also been recorded by contemporary Christian artists like DC Talk, Rebecca St. James, and Audio Adrenaline. He performed for The White House, twice - and in Moscow at the 80,000 seat Olympic Stadium. He headlined venues like The Hollywood Bowl, The Sydney Opera House, The Palladium and London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall, which he sold out six times, once filling it twice on the same day. In the last 40 years Norman has released nearly 100 solo albums.

These guys are fairly intense; and I don't believe this was a multitrack recording. I believe that what you see, happened the way you see it. They have their act together.

I have been releasing songs into the secular arena that have a spiritual message. They have been well received. I consider them to be secular music with a Christian world view. Here's an example.

Devil Talkin'

I've tried that, especially when I was younger; but as I've matured in my faith; I've found that every time it starts to go somewhere; I start getting pulled in directions that I don't want to go in. I don't do lukewarm anymore. I'm either hot or cold. Right now I'm cold. I play at home. I've written some music for some of the Psalms. It might be nice to get them on the internet. I might have to set aside some time to do that.

I'd like to hear that song; but I'd have to load Javascript to hear it on that platform. Do you have it posted on any other platforms?

And do you sit and meditate on them?

What we put into our minds, is what we become.

One way to walk in the wrong way in to never bother to look and learn from the mistakes of others. This is especially true of Judah in the first century. These Jews kept the Law, obeyed the commandments but then turned and judged the early Church's Eucharist:

"For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a pure offering; for my name is great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts. 12 But you profane it when you say that the Lord’s table is polluted, and the food for itc]">[c] may be despised. 13 ‘What a weariness this is,’ you say, and you sniff at me,d]">[d] says the Lord of hosts. You bring what has been taken by violence or is lame or sick, and this you bring as your offering! Shall I accept that from your hand? says the Lord." Mal.1.11-13

Paul stated the entire Sacred Scriptures were holy and can teach us, somewhere in his letters, perhaps some one here knows which letter. So I stand with those who say this harder form of music is often (not always) kosher, proper. It at least is no less risky or holier than the more traditional kind.
