IDo you know when the prophets of old spoke in the Spirit they did so in a manner that was "ecstatic"? I can see that in some of the music I listen to.
Fair enough, but I'm pretty sure that "mounted by goats" doesn't classify as a pure thought. Some definitions are in order, I think.
Fair enough, but I'm pretty sure that "mounted by goats" doesn't classify as a pure thought.
IThere are music forms I no longer listen to. Songs I can't stomach. I pay attention to the lyrics and the impact the message has on my spirit. Some songs kept inserting themselves into my head. I wasn't consciously thinking of them and I've gone down that rabbit hole to know the difference between that and invasive thoughts.
My recent posts have included both. The song and lyrics. But I don't listen to them. They cross my thoughts and I share them according to mood or theme. I think certain genres are more edifying for me than others. I encounter enough influences through my work and its spiritual trappings. I don't need to heap more on my plate.
Would I listen to those songs? No. The album imagery is reminiscent of tunes I combed Dark Lyrics to find. That's not my jam. I'm trying to pull people out of the muck and mire. Not climb in with them.
The Holy Spirit lays different things on our hearts. I don't like overt messages of filth or sin. I'll take an opera over a slasher film. I love the symphony, ballet and theater too. You can convey a message without bowling the viewer over or drawing from a cesspool.
On a practical level, I find messages like these are thrust on the populace. Gore and debauchery are noticeably absent elsewhere. I glean from that tree instead. But to each his own.

. I will listen to and like some songs that aren’t “ nice” but I find that if I’m not in a good mood then I can’t listen to them . Misogynistic rap in particular (which I've never liked ) gets into my head in a way I hate . Part of it was because I had a misogynist for a father and part because I just don’t like the art form .There are music forms I no longer listen to. Songs I can't stomach. Would you say this is "pure thought"?
"They shall bring up a crowd against you, land they shall stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords."

A dozen passages about the judgments of God in 31,102 verses, written in couth terms, is worlds away from a minutes-long song by men in explicit language constantly repeated and meditated.
Some Operas have debauched story lines and graphic scenes that hardly edify? There are music forms I no longer listen to. Songs I can't stomach. Opera eludes to situations. They tell life stories. You won't see gore or overt sexuality on the stage. Modern interpretations may include that. But the traditional form does not. They are family friendly productions.

There is a difference between that which graphically details God's hatred for sin, and that which graphically depicts sin. The latter is not edifying.
Yeah, some is like that all the time, and some is like that based on timing and God speaking to me through a particular song for a limited period of time.Do you know when the prophets of old spoke in the Spirit they did so in a manner that was "ecstatic"? Here is an interesting biblical reference to the genre of music...
EX 32
15Then Moses turned and went down from the mountain with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand, tablets which were written on both sides; they were written on one side and the other.
16The tablets were God’s work, and the writing was God’s writing engraved on the tablets.
17Now when Joshua heard the sound of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a sound of war in the camp.”
18But he said,
“It is not the sound of the cry of triumph,
Nor is it the sound of the cry of defeat;
But the sound of singing I hear.”
19It came about, as soon as Moses came near the camp, that he saw the calf and the dancing; and Moses’ anger burned, and he threw the tablets from his hands and shattered them at the foot of the mountain.
