• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Some time ago I had a thought about not loving God even though I do love God a lot. I haven't felt the Holy Spirit as much lately. Do you think God will forgive me for this thought?

Christianity is about God's love for you, not your love for God.

 He loves you through it. He forgives all of our up and down thoughts, and His grace covers each and every one, every second, minute, and hour, of every day. He's not mad at you. He knows our struggles, and He reads our hearts. He KNOWS your heart for Him, and it is very precious to Him. When those thoughts come, just tell God all about it. He's GOT you, dear heart, through all of it. Father may it be so, in Jesus' name, amen. (((hug)))

The command is to ' Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind.'
That is to love God with everything we have and are.

NoOne has ever done this, except Jesus, so if you are a Christian then Jesus has already forgiven yo All your sins.
That is all your past sins from conception to the current second.
All the sins you are or have currently committed as well as every sin you will commit from now untill the moment of your death.

It is as 1john1:9 say God will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

So when you are convicted of a current sin, tell God you are sorry and as for forgiveness.

If you are challenged about past sins, thank God for his forgiveness of those sins.

Future sins, wait untill they are today's sins.

Loving God is a choice, not a feeling. God has placed His own love in our hearts. We are not able to love God fully with feeble human love, but we surely can love God with the love He gives us to love Him with.

No sure how you come to this conclusion. More surprising are those who agree with you. Your statement contradicts Jesus Christ of Nazareth. He gave us two commandments one to love Him and the other to love each other. Be blessed.

Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment."

I agree with those who have said that love (and loving/following God) is a choice. We have many thoughts and feelings throughout the course of a day, depending on situations, our moods, and just the random things that flit through our brains. And OCD loves to latch onto those random thoughts and feelings and make us afraid that if we have them, it says something about our self-worth or our standing with God. But no matter what we happen to think or feel, we can still choose to love God and to follow Him.
