Thoughts about an EX-Mormon outreach tag

Ex-Mormons are the forgotten. There are over 5 million ex-mormons out there, and Ex-Mo forums are growing in popularity. We have a LOT to say, a LOT to work through, and a LOT of questions we never got answers to in mormonism. Most of us get blasted by Mormons under the LDS tag. Is there a place where we can go without the pressure we endured in mormonism, to get questions answered by Christians? I haven't discovered an ex-mo forum run by Christians yet. How about thinking it over with including one?

Many ex-outside the fringe church member numbers are growing by leaps and bounds, with nowhere to go. That first taste of freedom should come from the Lord. It did for me, and I've never once looked back. No need to!

We can take a look at this and maybe find a place for you to post questions.
Would it be possible to exclude currently active Mormons (of all mormonism's churches, not just LDS? LDS Mormons especially can be very pushy or dismissive when it comes to ex-Mormons. They don't like what we have to share, or to have our questions answered by Christians without insisting their spin be added to them first. Most ex-mo sites have very strict guidelines for them interacting with ex-members for this very reason.

We've had enough of such behavior pushed on us in mormon churches. We don't need more of the same on an ex-mo forum. I wish there were the same guidelines in place for ex-Mormons in the LDS forum as applied to calling people "anti-Mormon". We get beat down quite often. That's why so many of us, myself included, hesitate to reveal that we are ex-mo's unless absolutely critical. I thank God that I had some excellent pastors and Christian friends when I left mormonism and became a Christian. If allowed to spiritually wander for longer than I did, I don't honestly think I would be the same person I am now in the Lord. There are many ex-Mormon now born-again believers who feel the same way out there, too. Many more than all mormon churches are willing to admit.

Most Mormons leave these churches on their own because they have come to the conclusion that mormonism is false, or twisted in so many ways that don't make sense. Nobody has told them, but they sense it. Or they stumbled across information online that they never were allowed to know before about mormonism's checkered and hidden history. Oftentimes they go to opposite extremes when they do leave, compounding the spiritual emptiness they already feel, so they can be a little caustic and rough. Please be in prayer for these people God loves.

I'm going to work on reforming that forum. But if we do find a place for you, there will not be Mormons allowed.

Thank the Lord for setting you free! I think there are lots of people where you are safe on CF, but I indeed understand your concerns. Feel free to ask me anything. I'm 'just' a Christian. I don't have all the answers. But I won't judge you. May God bless you in Jesus name!

Thank you for your kind words! I thank the Lord for setting me free, too. Every day!

The CF LDS forum is definitely not the place where former Mormons can feel safe enough to ask questions about the differences between mormonism and Christianity. However, I don't think arguing mormonism and Christianity in open forums is a good idea either. These people have been put through the wringer, by family, by friends, even by strangers, in defending why they have left. Why should they have to defend themselves? To anyone? To potentially see Christians falling into arguments with those who are confused would be too much. I was blessed more than some are with finding great, patient pastors and steadfast Christian friends who taught me a lot when I came to the Lord, without having to go into mormonism too much. Forget the past, move on toward the Lord I was told. It isn't as easy as it sounds to those who have been damaged by often a lifetime of spiritual blindness. There were many private moments, despite the love shared, I felt so alone I didn't want to live any longer during those tough times. Sometimes it takes years to let it go and move on. Meanwhile we have questions and fears, about salvation, God, etc, while being left not knowing what or who to trust any longer. From my own experience I initially lashed out blindly at kind people who were only trying to lead me to the truth. Can you picture some responses like that in an open forum here? We should seek to win others to Jesus, not push them away.

Not all ex-Mormon forums are run by Christians. Some are there, trying their best, but this just may be a unique place for ex-Mormons. Hopefully it will become a shelter for the hurting in a Christian forum atmosphere. Christian Forums is one of THE best forums online. We all should pray for and bless our moderators every day for their hard work, patience, and eternal dedication. Even when its our turn for a dose of their spiritual sting!

I understand. You may always start a private conversation with me but I understand you're very hesitant. You're in my prayers.

A Relationship with Jesus is all we really need, no need for human doctrine to get in the way of that. [emoji169][emoji4]
