The Hebrew word for salvation is yeshua. The old Testament saints waited for the coming of God’s salvation. Genesis 49:18 I have waited for thy salvation, (Yeshua) O LORD. Psalms 14:7 Oh that the salvation (Yeshua) of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.Psalms 119:166 LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, (Yeshua) and done thy commandments. Psalms 119:174 I have longed for thy salvation, (Yeshua) O LORD; and thy law is my delight. Isaiah 25:9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. (Yeshua) Isaiah 56:1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation (Yeshua) is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. The Children of Israel were waiting for salvation from their sins. the Holy Scriptures teach that the wages (penalty) of sin is death. Ezekiel 18:4 the soul that sinneth, it shall die. Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. The Holy Scriptures also teach that all have sinned. Ecclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. Proverbs 20:9 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? 1 Kings 8:46 for there is no man that sinneth not Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Moses taught that a blood sacrifice was the only way to make an atonement for sin. Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. The animal sacrifices painted a picture of the Messiah who would pay the penalty for our sin. Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: Isaiah 53:3-6 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, The Old Testament prophets proclaimed how the Messiah would be killed. Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. Psalms 22:14-18 I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. The Old testament prophets taught that someday God would become our Yeshua. Psalms 118:14 The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. (Yeshua) Exodus 15:2 The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: (Yeshua) he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; (Yeshua) I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. (Yeshua). The angel Gabriel appeared before Mary and spoke these words. Luke 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. (Yeshua)The angel of the Lord also appeared before Joseph and spoke these words. Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: (Yeshua) for he shall save his people from their sins. The New Testament teaches that Jesus is the long awaited Messiah. John 20:30-31 And many other signs truly did Jesus (Yeshua) in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus (Yeshua) is the Messiah, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. In order to find God’s salvation we need to place our trust in his Son, Jesus the Messiah. Psalms 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Psalms 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus (Yeshua), and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Yeshua) The Old testament saints were not ashamed to proclaim Yeshua!!! Psalms 96:2 Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; show forth his salvation (Yeshua) from day to day. Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; (Yeshua) that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!
