  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This'll make ya fume!!!

Hi all,

I was unfortunate enough to stumble upon a story on Yahoo! News which made me quite angry. Here is the link to it:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/?20040301/ap_on_re_us/church_contraceptives

Note: Chances are you may get a "page not found" message. If this happens, click first on "Yahoo! News Home Page", and then click on the headline entitled "Catholic Group Must Provide Birth Control" (it's hard for me to even write this title w/o getting angry! ).

I'm now going to sit back and watch the discussion unfold... :)

This sort of reminds me of another story I heard awhile back. I don't think it was a Catholic organization but it was a church organization that was maybe an orphanage or something like that, a place/shelter for kids. They were told they would have to stop praying with the kids and take all the crosses and other religious items down and basically become secular or they would lose their funding

I cannot stand what this world is coming to.

I don't think they should be able to make the Catholics do something like this, it is wrong and against our beliefs.

Soooo.. people can legally refuse to give their kids medical attention (scientology) and that's acceptable because of their religion.... but the Catholic church can't... oh, I'm just going to stop here. This is just pointless.

Well Mulutka, this is (unfortunately) the era of Catholic-bashing. It's just not in vogue to bash Scientology.

Key sentence:
The American Civil Liberties Union applauded the ruling and called it "a great victory for California women and reproductive freedom."

If I were dictator of America, the first thing I would do is liquidate that disgusting organization.

No one is being forced to work for Catholic Charities!!!!!!

Really?! Could you elaborate on that, KC?
I'll try and find the story, but it was along the same lines. It was either Catholic Charities OR it was the Diocese office because it hired people that were not Catholics so the Diocese had to offer contraceptives to those folks who did not adhere to the teachings of the Church since they weren't members.
