Thanks for all the help.
We'll be picking up Smush's ashes next Thursday and then looking into getting a statue or something. I'd like a black pug statue that I could sit in the yard out back where he used to sit and watch the squirrels.
Again, Thanks to everyone
:) Hi aimless! Good to hear from you again. That would be really nice, then you could sit next to his memorial and feel close to him.

I have found that physical memorials are not necessary. Whether you have genuine love between you and your pet or you and another person, that love provides a gateway for those whose love you shared to come back to you. I know this because God provided the way for my pet to come back from the other side to rescue me from a fire one night. Awesome experience!

God did answer your prayer. The answer was no. I believe that God uses hardships and losses in our earthly lives to draw us closer to Him. I believe that animals go to heaven. I don't know how it will be but I don't believe that God created these wonderful creatures and allows us to love them and enjoy them and then that we would never see them again. I lost my cat last year, She was very old and she was very smart and intuitive. Sometimes I invision her in heaven forever chasing butterflys and never catching them! Her favorite activity.

My parakeet recently died, and I've been having some of the same questions. I'm not sure where animals go when they die. I have previously believed that they can't go to heaven, because they don't have souls, but I'm not so sure anymore. Maybe there will be animals in heaven. I don't know. I guess I'll have to wait until I get there. As far as why God didn't answer your prayer, maybe he did answer it in a better way. Maybe your dog would have had some kind of body or brain damage if he hadn't died. Maybe God wants you to ask questions, so you can better understand what you believe in. I'll be praying for you.

Hey, I'm so sorry that you're dog died. It's not stupid for being sad about it...it would kill me if my dog died. I will be praying for you. As for why God would not answer your prayers...like someone said your prayer life is hindered when you have sin in your life...but also death is a part of life...we can't explain it or know why but it just happens. God is not letting you down because He is with you...don't blame Him for this...if anything draw near to Him in your time of need. Again I'll be praying for you and good luck. God Bless! I know Smush will be greatly missed.

I agree with all the above statements. Although I never had any pets I think that they do help pull people through hard times. They're unconditional friends. But so is God. Maybe your dogs passing is a way of God getting you attention? I do not know, but remember, the bee that stung him died too. I'm sure there will be animals in heaven. Why wouldn't there be?

This will sound stupid because to some it may not seem like a big deal but to me it's pretty much everything.
My dog died on monday morning at about 2 am.
He was a black pug named Smush.
He was stung by a bee to which he was deathly allergic apparantly.
The bee was buzzing by and Smush tried to grab it with his mouth like he would anything that moved. Within about 5 minutes Smush was barely there.
Basically I'm crushed. On the way to the animal hospital I was praying the whole time. I don't pray usually. I've kind of felt if god answers some prayers like healing cancer then why doesn't he answer others... for example a dying dog or even people for that matter.
My general problems are... where is Smush? Do animals go to heaven and is there scriptural evidence for this?
I understand that it isn't necessarily God's fault because everything just worked the way nature intended. Smush reacted to stimulus of the bee buzzing by and the bee reacted because he thought he was in danger. Smush had an allergy which caused him to die. It's hard not to blame God though... Why would he not answer my prayer?
Maybe it's stupid to have a dog cause a spiritual crisis but It does for me.
Can anybody help?

I have heard teht Smush will be on the other side of the rainbrow Bridge, waiting for your arrival to enter Heaven with you.

God Bless

Vigil.

I know this thread was started some time ago but I just wanted to add something. :) My little dog, Wiggles passed away a year ago this month and I still miss him. He was a good dog and I'd had him for over 15 years.

Anyway, I'm not sure if you'll see your dog in heaven or not but I think it's possible. The Bible describes horses and lambs and other animals so I think it's possible.

I know it's hard to lose a pet friend but God will comfort your heart.

then she's playing with my own departed cat too, because he chased anything that moved..even my feet...lol

I think they go to heaven, scripturally I can't pinpoint it beyond what others here have done. I think their "natural innocence" (I can't find a proper word) doesn't require them needing a soul to ascend. Just their very existence/personality goes back to where they're from and the more savage instincts for survival are no longer necessary.

Had a gorgeous black cat for 10 years and he died almost 4 years ago this summer. It still hurts at times. My condolescences, black pugs are just the cutest! It will take a while but you'll start to smile again when reflecting on his antics without bawling.

Sorry for your loss. Pets are a great thing, they are great companions. I had a cat for 16 years and she was so great! Very smart, and as she got old, she never got bitter - she always loved to cuddle or play. We had to put her down because she was too miserable to live. She would have died within the week anyway, and to find your pet dead in your house is so depressing. Wasn't my choice though.

Think of it this way: we all came from the earth, and to the earth we shall return. Our bodies are temporary. You'll remember your dog for the duration of your life and the memories will be there. That's what matters.
