Ok I'm still feeling bad about the question from last week for the younger brethren so I'm making this weeks question for them very easy.

Question One (for the younger brethren):

What are the similitudes (define and list)? And where are they?

Award = 150 blessings (50 for guilt :p ).

Question Two (for the older brethren):

Who was the "weeping prophet"
Who was the "prophet most beloved"
Who was the "prophet of the broken heart and home"

Finally: What is the difference between a prophet and a priest (or pastor).

Award = 250 blessings

Rules:

1. These questions are for Baptist/Anabaptist members only.

2. Those who have successfully answered the "Question for the older brethren" in the past are not eligible to answer Question One (for the younger)

3. Winners from the previous week are not allowed to answer the following weeks question (unless after a time I open the question to all due to lack of response).

4. There may be diverse opinions on certain questions. In this case the closest to "what I'm looking for" wins.

5. Answers that have been partially answered by several members will result in a division of the blessings.

6. The point of the Question of the Week is to edify and teach. If you are a super-scholar (even in your own mind ;) ) keep this in mind and allow others to search and learn. We're building Bereans here (Acts 17:10-11)

7. I get to add to or change the rules whenever I want  .

Ok search the scriptures!

HOSEA - PROPHET OF A BROKEN HEART AND HOME

Hosea - Outline

I. The Tragedy in Hosea's homelife (1-3)
The Signs Reflected in the children (1)
The Sins Reflected in his wife (2)
The Salvation Reflected in the husband (3)
II The Tragedy in Hosea's homeland (4-14)
The Polluted People (4-7)
The Punished People (8-10)
The Pardoned People (11-14)

Hosea (755-714 BC) was called to "weep" and suffer for Israel, just as Jeremiah was for Judah. The prophecy is timed to the conditions in Israel immediately proceeding the fall of Samaria. Israel is warned about the terrible savagery of the Assyrians (13:16).Amos cried out the righteousness of God; Hosea wept out the mercy of God. Hosea's prophecy deals mainly with Israel, but with an occasional reference to Judah. Hosea pours out his hear in short, sharp sentences, his broken home giving him ample illustration to convey the truths that were heavy on his heart.

Hosea's wife proved unfaithful. The children were a source of sorrow. Each step of the tragedy in his homelife is related to the tragedy in his homeland, for Gomer represented Israel, her children represented the people of the nation. Hosea's patience and pleading with his wife, who broke his heart, is like a parable of God's love and longing for Israel. When she forsook him to play the harlot, his love followed her, and at last found her dishonored and deserted and, it would seem, in slavery. He purchased her (3) but refused to restore her fully until a time of chastening had passed. The whole sad story of domestic tragedy and heartache taught Hosea that Israel's sins were as adultery and harlotry in the sight of God.

Hosea set himself to the sad task of translating all this into a passionate plea and warning to Israel. The sins of the nation were many: killing, lying, stealing, swearing, drunkenness, backsliding, adultery, idolatry, treachery, insincerity, pride, forgetfulness, craft, love of sin, ingratitude, oppression, covetousness, highway robbery, and anarchy. All of these are reflected in the pages of Hosea. The pagan priests aided and abetted murder (6:9) and the government was unstable: one faction wanted to compromise with Assyria, the other insisted on an alliance with Egypt (7:11).

Hosea's pleadings were unheeded. Israel had sown the wind and would reap the whirlwind (8:7). Throughout the book can be heard, as it were, the rumble of the gathering storm. But, the theme that God is love is ever present. Hosea tells us that sin hurts God; it not only breaks His laws but it breaks His heart. If the people would only repent, He says, "I will heal their backsliding, and will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away" (14:4). Thus we find that there is a promise of salvation glowing in the ever-darkening sky

The Weeping Prophet is Jesus.
Lamentations 1
16 For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed.
17 Zion spreadeth forth her hands, and there is none to comfort her: the LORD hath commanded concerning Jacob, that his adversaries should be round about him: Jerusalem is as a menstruous woman among them.
18 The LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.
19 I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to relieve their souls.
20 Behold, O LORD; for I am in distress: my bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as death.
21 They have heard that I sigh: there is none to comfort me: all mine enemies have heard of my trouble; they are glad that thou hast done it: thou wilt bring the day that thou hast called, and they shall be like unto me.
22 Let all their wickedness come before thee; and do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: for my sighs are many, and my heart is faint.

Luke 19
41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

The Prophet Most Beloved is King David. Psalms

A prophet is a mouth piece for God (God’s spokesperson on earth), and a Priest(Pastor) is a Shephard that is supposed to look after God's people (spiritually) by leading them in the Lord.

That's right! Hosea is the prophet of a broken heart and broken home!

The Weeping Prophet is Jesus.

Sorry, this one is wrong.

The Prophet Most Beloved is King David.

Sorry, this one is wrong too.

A prophet is a mouth piece for God (God’s spokesperson on earth), and a Priest(Pastor) is a Shephard that is supposed to look after God's people (spiritually) by leading them in the Lord.

This is so close to right that I'll take it!

Here is the exact answer:

Prophet communicates from God to man.

The Priest communicates from man to God.
Ok Iollian has 2 out of 4. There is still 50% of the blessings to get!!!! (Iollian can still try again btw. :D ) I'll hand out the blessings when the whole answer has been given... or has been given up on, which I think unlikely.

No offense my friend, but this one is tougher than the last question you asked...the last one, in my opinion, wasn't too difficult, just more research than I had time for. However, it's also turning up some very interesting results:) I had never heard of the book of Enoch before trying to do a little research for this.

I haven't been able to find anything that is definitive, but I'll ask just the same. Is this in regards to the deliverance of Isreal? Either that or it has something to do with math and programming:)

Jeremiah is often called the weeping prophet as his writings are often characterized by anguish of spirit (see Jeremiah 4:19, 8:18, 8:21, 9:1, 23:9, etc.). Lamentations, which is generally attributed to Jeremiah, gives further example of this.

That's right! Jeremiah is the weeping prophet. He was called to lament and weep over Israel.

Ok 3/4's answered

Jeremiah - The Weeping Prophet

As Isaiah lived through the turbulent Assyrian period, so Jeremiah lived throught the equally heartbreaking Babylonian captivity. Jeremiah saw five kings on the throne of David in Jerusalem: Josiah, Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin, and Zedekiah. Jeremiah wept out his prophecies on deaf ears and lived to see his beloved people given over to famine and the sword. His loftiest counsels were ignored, his writings torn to shreds by a tyrant king, his name blackened, his life hunted, and his worst predictions horribly fulfilled before his tear-filled eyes. The bitterest feelings of his broken heart he recorded in the book of Lamentations. He was forbidden by God to marry. And, even when his preaching produced results, as in the days of King Josiah, he could clearly see that the reforms were superficial and could not last.

Daniel - The Prophet most beloved (or greatly beloved)

Daniel was both a saint and a seer, and his book is both practical and prophetical. The courage, conviction, and committal of Daniel and his friends, as recorded in the first half of the book teach valuable lessons. Those who would "know their God and do exploits" in days of testing and trial should spend much time in the good company of these choice young men. Daniel was an actual historical person famed even in Ezekiel's day for his piety. Ezekiel mentioned Daniel by name three times and regarded him as such an outstanding person as to link his name with those of Noah and Job. The Lord Jesus mentioned Daniel by name, and (of course) regarded his prophecies as inspired. He identified Himself with the Son of man of Daniel's vision (cf 7:13 with Matthew 16:13; 26:64), and in Matthew 24:15 (Mark 13:14).
Daniel was deported from Judah in 605 BC, began his ministry three years later and lived through the entire period of the seventy-year captivity. He was probably of royal descent, good-looking, intelligent, courageous, and devout. While still a youth and an exile in Babylon being trained as a courtier, Daniel showed remarkable conviction and courage. Not fearing the wrath of the king, Daniel and his friends determined to obey God rather than man. They made up their minds to trust God and enthrone Him in all things, great and small. He was a contemporary of Jeremiah, Habakkuk, Ezekiel, and possibly Obadiah.

Hosea (755-714 BC) was called to "weep" and suffer for Israel, just as Jeremiah was for Judah

Alrighty, I'm going to take another crack at this.

Luke 4:23 and Luke 21:29

Similitude = comparison?
