This weekend......

..... I spent some time with God asking him what to do.

I have been involved in youthwork for the last 12 years of my life on a relatively voluntary business. Personally I believe God has blessed my wife and I with the gifts of hospitality, teaching and listening to youth. In fact our combined ministry has developed on this basis over the last four years and God has really blessed us.

There is the possibility that we may relocate to another country (we are currently based in the UK) to continue this youthwork and evangelism on a full time basis. I must admit that I am scared as we will be leaving all our family and friends, with whom we are very close, which would affect our children as well.

I am confident however that God has something in store for us. We are continuing to ask God to use us, break us and remould us if neccessary to remind us that all good things come from him.

We are still journeying and God is still revealing to us. Like Paul who wanted to go to Rome, God may tell us we are not quite ready for this yet, but it is amazing to see how God speaks to you in the still small voice to remind you that he will use you wherever you are in the world.

God is my strength

Once upon a time, there was a system that people used to learn a trade, to follow their calling in life. They would sign themselves up as apprentices to someone who had mastered the trade and learn everything they could from that person, sometimes for as many as ten years. When that apprentice had learned all he could from his master, then he would be sent out on a mission, a journey to find and learn from practical experiences. The apprentice became a journeyman, a person released to go and practice the trade in the field.

May you and your wife learn all you can from your current situation, then become journeymen when your time is right so that you may practice what you have learned and continue to learn from the new experiences.

I am so encouraged by your openness to follow God's will for you. If you do decide to move, although scary, how exciting it will be to see what God has in store for you. There is definitely an abundant harvest!

I think I am at a point in my life where I'm not sure where God wants me or how exactly I can be used to best serve in His ministry, but it's exciting to know that I am open to and want to follow wherever He leads me.

Thank you all for your comments, words of wisdom and prayers. I pray that some of the goodness that God has given to us we will be able to leave a legacy for the next generation to take up. Unfortunately there are so many potential youth leaders we meet and have the joy of working with who either give up or do not want the responsibility of such a task.

I pray that our ministry can communicate that the need is still there and that others can take up the banner, not by looking to us, but by looking to Jesus.

I would like you to pray for our children (5yrs and 8th mnths) as well because the Devil has a nasty habit of specifically going after the offspring of those who go out on a limb for God. Pray that we will be good parents putting their interests in God hands, instilling enough wisdom and responsibility in their minds so when they come to make their own decision about God it will be because of healthy teaching and respect for God.

Stay blessed
