• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi am Asphyxia ,
I am finding this time of year really hard ...mainly because of abuse .
all of us in fact are feeling really scared the little ones especially .
We have a meeting with our pastor on Halloween...we would normally not see anyone during Halloween but i think its important to see him.
The abuse was a long time ago but its still feels like it happened only yesterday .
We are still trying to heal from it

I used to have a difficult time this time of year, but it has gotten better over the years. A couple years ago I even went to a program with my church friends... though I haven't the last two years because health wise I haven't been up to it. Sometimes it rears it's ugly head, but much easier to handle now.

I'm sorry it's a rough time of year for you, but I'm glad you have your pastor to go and talk to.

Can you suggest to the Pastor that you change the date of the meeting so that you can stay at home?

We would have normally cancel, but we don't know when we will be able to make another appointment as Ella's mum is getting cancer treatment and she needs us there .

I am really sorry to hear about your mum. :hug:Well done for being there for her.

Have you decided what to do about the meeting? Would it be possible to have it at your home, or perhaps somewhere nearer to home, such as a neighbour's house? Failing that, have you something to take with you to keep you safe; a toy or something that reminds you of safety? I have to do this; I wear a rosary whenever I have to go out, because it isn't safe out there.

I have DID.

We can take something with us that we feel is safe .
We take a stress ball with us where ever we go out.
we could also have a toy as well .

Thank you. I don't really know what it is that I went through; I know some of it but not all. I also don't know yet how many, or who they are; although I know there are at least three, and I know some of the names. It is very early days for me on this diagnosis, and I am still coming to terms with it. However, enough about me.

The stress ball sounds a good idea, and a toy may help. I do hope so. Anniversaries are very difficult. Does your pastor know about you? Is he understanding about it?

He knows about the abuse but not about us all .
He knows that we cant go to church because of the abuse as crosses really trigger us so we have to be careful.
he is understanding .
