  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I love how the 'slam-dunk' evidence used to end the debate on the Sabbath once and for all is a book that's almost universally considered heretical and uninspired gnostic gospel.

What next, will you use evidence from the book of Mormon and the Koran to make your case?

The Muratorian Canon, written circa 170 A.D., refers to the original 4 gospels which we have now in The New Testament, as well as the letters of St. Paul, Acts of the Apostles, and all the other books which we now have in The New Testament, with the exception of James and Hebrews. They even list two books which were left out of The New Testament in its final form; they were a gospel purportedly written by St. Peter, but known to be of later origin, and The Wisdom of Solomon.

But there is no mention of there existing a Gospel of Thomas at that time. This puts it in the same situation as the other pseudopygraphical books which were written starting circa 200 A.D. The fact that it is wriiten in Aramaic is of no consequence whatsoever. Aramaic is still the official language of the liturgy in the Syriac Orthodox Church. Those who want to hear the liturgy in that language need only attend a Syriac Orthodox service this Sunday.

You stumbled and divine intervention is not of God, nor the Lord Jesus Christ. I am sorry you are begrieved about discussions on the sabbath. Have you ever thought of listening to others? Maybe if you would accept a righteous man for a righteous man you would receive a righteous man's reward. You are prideful and arrogant, and quick to run to evil. Jesus Christ loves you. If you want to know about the sabbath, it is a day of rest. Very simple:

Even the Apostle Thomas kept the Sabbath up till the time that he was martyred in India in the 1st century. Exodus 20 is still speaking to those who have an ear in 2010.

8“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
