Yeah, I've read most of them, including This Present Darkness. My favorite is The Visitation, and Prophet. My wife is currently reading Monster and when she gets done with it. I plan on reading it, too.

The Oath was good, too. Really, IMO, you can't go wrong with Peretti. I dig him.

I quite enjoyed the Darkness books. My favourite Peretti is The Visitatation, followed by the Darkness two, and Prophet was good too I think. The Oath was okay, but Monster was a bit of a disappointment.

To be honest the spiritual warfare stuff in all the books do make a very exciting topic for fictional works, but I have try to put out of my mind that Peretti and some actually believe in it all, because when I realise that it is a bit off-putting... Good works of fiction, usually with very good Christian morals coming through, but theological inaccurate.

I read the two Darkness books and thought that they were decent but overly preachy. Peretti is capable of good writing, but the Darkness books tended to make the characters come off as cardboard saints when he started focusing too much on his sermon and not enough on the work itself.

I have loved all of Frank Peretti's books except for his most recent couple, Monster and House. Those were alright, but not up to the standards I expect from Peretti. My favorites were the Oath, the visitation, and the Darkness books.

For me, the best part was the impact of God's angels on the lives of humans. Angels really do exists and I for one am glad they do. I dreamt about my guardian angel 3 times in my life and only felt his presence once. He was there to let me know that God is always with my and I appreciate that!:holy:

What I love about This Present Darkness and Piercing The Darkness is how they stress the importance and power of prayer in a Christian's life, and the church body as a whole, and how serious the spiritual battle raging around us, is,which is not stressed enough from the pulpit,IMHO.

Oddly enough, there are alot of spiritual issues that need to be addressed 'on the pulpit' but for some reason always have to end up in books, or private discussions before they can reach people. Television is one of the greatest forms of communication available to us. It is a tragedy that it is not used to cater to so many people who really need to hear hard hitting messages. There are souls out there that need salvation!

I just posted a question on a seperate thread without having seen this post.

I'm almost done with the first book and really enjoy it. I think it is a novel way to look at spirirtual warfare, and though I don't doubt there is some validity to possession and "demon intervention" to some extent, I do agree with another poster that too many folks take it too literally, which can me dangerous.

Has anyone read any books by Frank Peretti? Akin to that of Dr. Rebecka M. Brown, but with a little more bite to it!
Yes, I've read several of his, but it has been a while. I think his books seem to elevate the power of evil and make it sound as powerful as God.

That's one problem with them; my other quibble is that characterization and plot and sometimes lazily done if "ooh, God did it" is a halfway convenient excuse. Peretti has a tendency to write himself into a corner and then get out of it with some of the characters praying for something improbable to happen. That can be seen as glorifying the power of God, but if it happens too many times then it seems like lazy writing.

For people who have lived in heavy spiritual warfare they understand that everything Peretti wrote is true! Just because it sounds scary and unreal doesn't mean it can't happen! It has already happened! People do a great job of covering up. How do you think they got away with it for so long. However, I do think Peretti's approach toward the spirituality as opposed to material matters are a little casual.

I think Frank Peretti is an amazing writer. He's probably my all time favorite. I've read all his books (except for House, just bought that one). His style of writing reminds me a bit of Stephen King, sans the explicit violence and sex.

I really like FP's books because not only does he incorporate relevant messages in them, he entertains while doing so. I really get into his books.
