• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This may sound odd.

Alright, well I don't know what to think of this so this may sound odd!

I feel like sometimes whenever I listen to worship music, I feel like something is wrong and I get this heavy feeling on my chest, like it feels like its harder to breathe or something.

This may sound odd but in your opinion, what do you take from this? Do you think it could mean something is wrong or just an issue with my health or whatever.

NR, not really sure, are you just normally listening or really taking it in your heart? I felt like that when I watched Courageous, tried holding the tears in, actually hurt more than when I said the heck with it and let it flow!

Medically have you been checked lately? Almost sounds like asthma

I LOVED THAT MOVIE!

I sure hope I take in the music! I usually sit there and listen. I tried listening to "Healing Rain" while playing a game but I couldn't do that because I wanted to hear every word because it's so great!

And I had asthma as a kid but I don't think so anymore. I live with smokers though. I'm like half tired right now also. Do you feel like its harder to breathe when you're really tired or have stayed up a long time?

Movie changes my life bud! Watched Letters to God last night, did the same thing, lol. Glad my wife is cool with me blubbering during movies! :)

Maybe the smokers are aggravating your asthma? Are you always in the same position when you listen to the music, ie, laying on your bed or something? if so maybe it is a health issue. Maybe pay attention to times and position when you listen and maybe you can determine if its a health issue or just an emotional one.

Hope that helps a little. God Bless

Take note of how your breathing rate may vary when engulfed by something moving.

It may be you need to consciously focus on taking deeper, more regularly timed breaths.

As it's not uncommon to breathe abnormally, while excited or under stress, without distinctly realizing it.

Also, one can clear the lungs somewhat by purposely exhaling for as long as possible without overly straining yourself...then taking a few deep inhales.... repeat 3 or 4 times, then rest.

This is helpful after being exposed, for a short time, to pollutants.

But try to be somewhere where the air is clean when applying.

Peace in Christ !

You are being oppressed by the enemy.
The enemy wants to prevent you from worship of and intimacy with God so
that you will become discouraged and walk away from your efforts to draw
closer to God.

Keep pressing in and listening to worship music and rebuke the heavy
feelings in Jesus name and ask God to give you more of His Holy spirit.

It does sound like asthma. Additionally, we hold our breath when we try to do something correctly or with feeling. So if you are striving to worship intensely, you might be constricting passageways or not taking a breath. Stay relaxed.

Outside of the home...it can be hard to breathe in church services because sanctuaries are not always aired out, and are filled with perfumes and other allergens when so many people gather and use up oxygen. The earliest service will be your easiest for breathing.

This would be my first conclusion since you've said that it happens when you listen to worship music.
(if it happened all the time then it'd be different.)

I've often described being in a spiritually heavy atmosphere as the air 'getting thicker' somehow. And harder to breathe.

It is most definitely brought on by anxiety, believe me, I have experienced it too. If you are honest, you will admit from early morning before attending Church, you experience butterfly in stomach, anxiety and nervousness, and maybe even sweaty palms? AM I right or am I wrong?

I usually just feel like its harder to breathe.

It happens other times as well.

So why are you here asking for info from a Christian advice site?

You said it happened during the time when you listen to worship music
and now you say it happens at other times.

Go to a doctor, pastor or mental health provider and and give
them the whole story instead of giving out bits and pieces.

I think you need to see someone who can get all the information
and discuss with you a plan of action for your life.

The devil is real and I have seen him in action as he oppresses people
and prevents them from drawing closer to God.

Perhaps you have your own ideas but either way you need to choose
which direction or directions you want to pursue and get off the fence
and move forward in your life.

As I have said before, make Jesus Christ your Lord and your life will improve.

God will not make you go His way and find His blessings.

You have to choose to either go God's way unconditionally by
your surrender of your life to Christ or continue do things
your way and slowly have your faith and life stripped away
by forces you are not able to fight against without God's help.

God is supernatural so if you want to continue to rationalize everything,
you will miss the blessings of God that can only be obtained by faith.

You know what I have been embarrassed to say this but when I go to an area or out I can feel the spiritual atmosphere. I remember I went to a town a small country town in Alabama that had high drug addiction, high stds rates this was the same town where the tuskegee experiment took place. And it was almost like my eye focus changed my chest felt a pressure on it like I was lifting light weights.

Then I found out the history of the area. And it has always happened like that eye focus changes, chest pressure, atmosphere awareness then I learn the history.
