It is so simple. It is so profound.

Meant to start a thread with these lyrics in mind and have some posts that reflect this thought about letting our own little lights shine in the world.

Wanted a very nice clip from youtube of children singing this song.

We used to sing This Little Light of Mine all the time in parochial school. I completely agree -- so simple, yet so profound -- you described it perfectly.

PS -- Isn't there a verse about hiding it under a bushel basket? My computer isn't being nice, so I'm not going to try watching the videos right now.

Cool Latreia! That's the version (#2) that i remember. Version #1 on that site is pretty nifty too! And, I have never heard the gospel version before! Thanks for sharing that.

Luke 8:16-18
16"No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. 17For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. 18Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him."

Well, I was referring to the verse in the song, but thank you for reminding me of that passage in Luke! It's a good thing to remind ourselves why songs like this are popular and the teaching they are based upon as well.
