It is terrible that there is so much division among Modern Day Christians!

Why is it that no one can agree on even the most elementary of Gospel teachings?

Examples:
1. no one can agree on how a person becomes a Christian
2. no one can agree about what baptism is for
3. No one can agree that Christians are suppose to be Christ like
4. no one can say what denominations are biblically sound
5. no one can agree if everyone can be saved the way the thief was saved

Why is this? Can anyone give sound reason why the Christian Church is more divided on even the most basic of scriptural teachings than any other religion?

Because they have rejected and abandoned the Leadership that Christ set up when He founded His Church and gave its' leaders the keys of the kingdom of heaven and the Authority to bind and loose. When they rejected the Authority of the Church, they set up for themselves a kind of tower of bable scenario.

A good Pastor ( as is mine) will be teaching some as he preaches. But often the listeners will already have some of the information in a sermon .


If a Christian is poorly taught, still needing milk and not meat it is not because of a pastor that does not teach well or a lack of sources.

There are excellent scripture study books available , there is Christian radio. Do you go to a regular bible study at least once a week , do you attend Sunday school? I am what is called a taper, I listen to bible Teachings from the original from tapes, I listen to one a day, EVERY DAY for the last 31 years.
My pastor is an excellent teacher, his Sunday School classes are scriptural, doctrinal with references to the original languages and historic settings.

This summer we had a lay led one that filled our sanctuary every Sunday.

Last year we also had a choice of a lay taught on on apologetics.

If you belong to a church that does not offer opportunities to grow in the Lord it may be you are in the wrong church.

If such opportunities are offered and you fail to take advantage of them that fault is not that the pastor does not "teach" in his sermons. The problem is there is not a hunger to learn.

Every man will give an account of how he spent his time here, IMHO a hunger and enthusiasm for the word of God is a marker of ones spiritual state. I agree that the christians of the church should be taught using, categotries, isogogics, exigetics, anthropopathisms, anthrophamorphisms, line upon line, pre-cept upon pre-cept, verbs, tenses fixes, voices, historical critisisms, linguistics, etc. this is how I have been taught and it is the OBLIGATION passed from God that IF that pastor teacher has the GIFT to begin with, (many do not)....this is the way he should teach.

Church is not a lonely hearts club, or a bingo house, or parties or trips, and all the social things churches do now, church is for LEARNING the mind of Christ, all of His doctrines in EXACT and PRECISE interpretation. This why even on this forum there is so much disagreeing...

Exactly, And this how and what the pastors NEED to teach.........

God loves for us to believe the truth of His word and that's going to bring division.

Luke 12: 51 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: 52 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. 53 The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
