What if she was your sister? Would you feel the same way?

Depends. I'll have some sentiment regardless because she's related to me and someone close to me. But if she was getting lost like this partying the night away, it won't be me, but my parents who would start raising hell. I wouldn't have to worry about it.

How can anyone NOT feel bad? A graduating HS senior goes on a class trip with lots of other graduates and chaparones and goes missing. Am I overlooking a vital piece of information that somehow vilifies this girl to the point where anyone could say that she is at fault? Or that a moment of poor judgement (18 yr old folks...usually a prime age for nothing BUT poor judgement!) is a reason to blame the victim? I haven't heard enough details yet to decide if she was doing anything questionable but going on a class trip and going out dancing in a location that is not known for having alot of crime doesn't seem unreasonable to me!!

AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

I feel sick from this thread.

Even if she was out a bar at 18, which maybe they're allowed to do in Aruba or even if they're not, it doesn't mean she deserves to be murdered for it and she is not to blame. For all you know Harpuia she could have been drugged at the bar and dragged off to be raped and murdered. Or even if she was at the bar and decided to go off and have sex with 3 men it doesn't mean she deserved to be murdered for it. Im sure I and many others here have done far worse before they came to Christ and maybe even after.

Did it ever occur to you that someone(s) may have just seen her out and slipped a date rape drug into her drink when they had the chance??? How is this her fault? These drugs render the victim unconscious but responsive with little or no memory of what happens while the drug is active in their system. The drugs also make the victim act without inhibition, often in a sexual or physically affectionate way. Like most drugs, date rape drugs render a person incapable of thinking clearly or of making appropriate decision. This makes for a very passive victim, one who is still able to play a role in what is happening but who will have no clear memory of what happened after-the-fact.

Think about this the next time you hug your sister even if you can't do it before condemening someone elses.

I agree, the attitude toward a missing girl in this thread makes me ill. You should be able to go out with your friends to a bar on vacation and make it safely back to your hotel room to go to sleep. Seems like we're venting our anger toward the media at the girl here. Would Jesus have said "Pfft, it's her fault. Who cares if she's dead?"

Here's an idea. How about we all start praying for her and every other missing person out there instead of passing judgement?

Oh well. I come off harsh, but I'm also blunt and tell it like it is. The deal is this, I've had experiences in my life where I was the victim of people like her.

Maybe it would help us understand your position better if you could explain this statement. What does it mean to be a victim of people like her?

I read a story once. It was about loving everyone, whether or not they did bad things.
It was about showing grace and love when someone is about to be punished for their crime. It is about forgiveness, it is about knowing that we all make mistakes and that we are not perfect.

------
At dawn Jesus appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?" They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"

"No one, sir," she said.
"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."

OK, my apologies if my first response to Harpuia was out of line. Apparently I'm not doing a good job of voicing my concern without violating board rules.
You'll catch on to how to post your opinion without aggravating the mods. Just takes time:thumbsup:

Perhaps he means girls that are the president of their school's National Honor Society as she was and have a 4.0 GPA as she did.

It's not as bad as I made it sound, lol.

But I think in a way many people like me understand what I mean. Finding a girl like this, asking her out, and she rejects you and not only rejects you but decides to manipulate you and using her multiple boyfriends to make your life a living hell. Acting popular and nice to everyone else but using you as some sort of puppet and laughs at your misfortunes.

I'll give you an example from personal experience. Three years ago I got involved in a crash when a vehicle hit me in the leg while I was on my bike. I wore crutches to school and sitting there, a couple of her guy-friends were kicking my crutches to see if I would fall. When the girl came, she just passed by and told the guy who was kicking my crutches that she needed someone to walk her to class.

Whenever I was in trouble, that particular girl would just ignore me and praise the culprits. No one in the administration was willing to help or even believe me either because all the guys were church-goers, and because they went to church and I didn't, they couldn't do any wrong.

Holloway reminds me of that type, in fact, she seems EXACTLY like that type, and I have no remorse for such people. I wouldn't even shed a tear. The fact I got such virulent responses was not only rude, but hateful as well.

Of course, I won't demand an apology. I won't even expect it. You guys are just acting on the fact that she IS a kind caring person. No big.
