This is ridiculous

So, a few days ago, some Muslims get their tunics in a bunch and riot because some reporter made a snide remark about Mohammed.  So, we in the US are quick to condemn them (myself included) for their barbariansim and overreaction to a comment. 

Now, some our finest young collegiate members of society, the future of our country, decide that because their team won a football game, they need to run like rabid apes through the streets of (insert victorious collegiate town here).

I know this happens every year, but I can't help but notice the hypocrasy and stupidity in a country that wants to quell terroristic threats and stop fanatic rioting in other countries, then watches their own citizens burn cars and demolishes buildings over college football.  And we're supposed to be one of the "civilized" nations.

this happened twenty miles from my home. the police had choppers in the sky, assault vehicles roaming the streets...it was chaos.
we've had a problem with this for awhile now and nothing done by the school and the cops seems to prevent these unwarranted acts.

january 3 is coming fast. they better think up something in a hurry if they hope to have a calm post-bowl night.

But it also makes me glad I didn't go to OSU.

People are always looking for something to excuse reprehensible behavior. Sometimes it's obvious as in this case and sometimes it's more subtle.

When the L.A. Lakers won the NBA Champioinship some years back there was rioting, burning of buildings, looting, and people were shot.

Mass hysteria, indeed.

It's a very sad commentary on individuals when they engage in such violent drunken behavior.

It is sad, but I hate to hear anti-OSU comments. This happens at every school in the nation. I'm not excusing the "riots" (I've seen worse), but let's lay off the Bucks.

It happens over here with all ages after our football matches. Thats why there is usually a large amount of police there. people of all ages usually start fighting. The last time my home team played a local club at their home ground the police stopped rival supporters from getting back into our town centre so they went and trashed their own.
