Pope Francis’s prayer intention for the month of March is for victims of abuse.

“In response to the cases of abuse, especially to those committed by members of the Church, it’s not enough to ask for forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness is necessary but it is not enough,” the Holy Father said in a video released by the Vatican March 2.

“Asking for forgiveness is good for the victims, but they are the ones who have to be at the center of everything,” Pope Francis said.

“Their pain and their psychological wounds can begin to heal if they find answers — if there are concrete actions to repair the horrors they have suffered and to prevent them from happening again. The Church cannot try to hide the tragedy of abuse of any kind. Nor when the abuse takes place in families, in clubs, or in other types of institutions,” the Holy Father added.

He's been working on this stuff.
But if you attack a person enough the good they do is buried.

Which is why part of the examination of conscience asks if we attacked someone's rep.

Although I find that the victim forgiving that act goes a long way towards healing.

The hate a person takes on is an avalanche of such proportions they are blocked from the voice of the Lord and as such, often times find themselves lacking a conscience. For who creates a conscience in mankind? The Lord.
Embitterment towards the Church keeps people afar from the Lord and getting these folks who suffered these things and have no stop from doing them to others... and seeking places of trust... leads to the wrong sorts getting into the Church.

Unfortunately, from what I learned, back in the old days [mid century] this sort of disorder was unheard of and so the crime was perpetuated.

However; the media focused only on the Church, not minding that in worldly institutions 1 in 4 children were suffering at greater numbers than via the Church.

So instead of remedies, they focused on the institution people needed which led to the Church becoming poster boy of this, and yet the % was much smaller than in the secular world.

All in all, evil divised in the minds of the abused to become the abusers and do so in Lord's Church because if you cannot change the teachings, you change the perspective of all teachers.
