  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is important.

Actually it's not, but man I heard the new Britney Spears song (New in Australian anyhow) 'Everytime' and I am now a 100% Britney fan. That song is pure, unadulterated, solid gold. The girl (or her producer) is a freaking musical genius.

She was always some safely ignored, trivial strumpet who relied on her very-young-female/very-old-man following as well as her entirely marketable appearance to make a buck and now she's producing something not only legitimately introspective but...dare I suggest it...intelligent also?? Has the world gone crazy or something?!

Sheesh.

P.S. Oh yeah...eh, God like...doesn't exist or something.

Man I'm talking about sheer musical ability here, not even the package. I mean this song sounds almost like something you'd expect from Evanescence.

I'll go out on a limb and claim that I don't think I've heard a ballad from No Doubt or Madonna that come close to rivalling this one for the sheer musical representation of melancholy. As poignant a commentary as Edvard Munch could ever have painted. It still comes second to Mad World for those in the know, but compared to the rest of her silliness it is a gem.

You will not see Jessica Simpson produce anything of this quality ever, despite them being almost identical as marketing objects.

I never fall for that girly-pop stuff. I am rocker all the way. For female artists, I like Evanescence. My Immortal rocks!!!

Strange, somehow you don't seem to see a lot of female rockers out there. Well, outside New Zealand anyway. Here, we have awesome rock bands with female vocals like Tadpole, Stellar and I think Fur Patrol can be considered Kiwi as well even though they're now based in Melbourne.

A work of art can never be any better than the motive behind it. If the motive behind music or art is to seduce or glorify oneself, then that's what the work represents. I don't know this new song but I'm sure it has nothing to do with saving one's soul.

Music is music, and music is to be enjoyed. Motives is irrelevant.

You might want to check out Red Delicious, not New Zealand and they aren't as hard as some of Evanescence's stuff but they are pretty good.
