I received an interesting document by email from a friend. Thought you might like it:

“This generation shall not pass away until all these things have taken place.” Matthew chapter 24 verse 34
In Matthew’s gospel Jesus is asked to give some indication of the signs that would occur immediately before His return to earth. To see which generation is the one that will see all the signs happen we must look at what the signs Jesus spoke of are.
When you see the abomination of desolation – spoken about by Daniel the prophet – standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains. The one on the roof must not come down to take anything out of his house, and the one in the field must not turn back to get his cloak.
Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing their babies in those days! Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. For then there will be great suffering unlike anything that has happened from the beginning of the world until now, or ever will happen. If those days had not been cut short, no one would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
Then if anyone says to you, “Look, here is the Christ!” or “There he is!” do not believe him, For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Remember, I have told you ahead of time. So then, if someone says to you, “Look, he is in the wilderness,” do not go out, or “Look, he is in the inner rooms,” do not believe him,
Just like the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.
“Immediately after the suffering of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moonshaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man arriving on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. “
Let us first find out for certain what “The abomination of desolation” is. Without doubt this is an image of a man which the man of sin will set up in the 3rd temple and do what King Nebuchadnezzar did in the time of Daniel and insist that everyone fall down and worship this statue (or to be more accurate – graven image).
What are the signs that are being referred to? When we look at Matthew chapter 24 verse 7 it says that earthquakes shall occur in diverse places, in other words, many different places. Earthquakes have been increasing in frequency and severity almost entirely across the globe at least from 1900 to the present day.
One of the other signs is that people were being burned by the sun suggesting extremely high temperatures in many parts of the world and sea levels rising, both of which are credited to global warming but which in fact are signs of the true Messiah’s return to earth to bring peace and His longed for reign of 1000 years.
Politicians are trying as best they can to stop what they have classified as global warming but which is in fact global warning. The reason they are trying to stop the rise of sea levels and global temperatures is because they love the world the way it is, and have no appetite for the return of Jesus to the earth He created.
It is very worrying when expensive conferences are run claiming to equip the next generation with knowledge and spiritual ability when the bible tells us that this is the generation that shall see all the signs written in Matthew 24 come about. One of the most obvious signs is the re-emerging of Israel as a nation once more.
Verses 32 to 35 inclusive read as follows; ““Learn this parable from the fig tree: Whenever its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also you, when you see all these things, know that he is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth; this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”
There is no doubting that since Israel became a nation again in May 1948 Israel has greatly prospered and continues to blossom. With all this evidence we cannot escape the fact that we are living in the days when Jesus Christ will once again return to earth, and that we are the generation who will live to see these things happen.
However, do not let anyone confuse you, before the man of sin can reach agreement to defend Israel for 7 years we will be raptured and share in the Marriage Supper of The Lamb as mentioned in Revelation chapter 19 which means although we can identify the approximate time of these things happening we will escape the time of great tribulation living under the rule of the man of sin, and should fervently thank God for it daily.
Consider finally the warning that Jesus gave to His disciples concerning the need to be always on the alert and ready for The Master’s return. Mark 13 v 32 to 37 inclusive reads as follows: “But as for that day or hour no one knows it – neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son – except the Father.
Watch out! Stay alert! For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey. He left His house and put his slaves in charge, assigning to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to stay alert. Stay alert, then, because you do not know when the owner of the house will return – whether during evening, at midnight, when the rooster crows, or at dawn – or else He might find you asleep when He returns suddenly. What I say to you I say to everyone: Stay alert!”
This warning was given to God’s people by Jesus, it is meant for all of God’s people until this parable has been literally completed as it will most certainly be someday. The enemy of our souls will do all he can to ensure that we are not in the place where we should be when The Master returns so that we will not be effective for Him before He comes.
The meaning of not being in the right place is spiritual, you may have been conned into believing a false gospel that can lead to nothing but trouble if you are found believing it when The Master returns.
With so much false teaching around today how do you know what the true gospel is so that you may believe it? That question will be answered in detail in the next of these broadcasts so that you will be left in no doubt. Jesus experienced all our pain, discouragement and disillusionment and then some, so He knows what we go through.
“The word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us” we are told so clearly in John chapter 1 verse 14. After making it very clear as to who the word who was with God from the beginning is, John then goes on to assure us that it was He, the word, who was made flesh and dwelt amongst us.
An angel cannot be made flesh or stand in the gap for mankind because angels are not men or women, only Jesus could stand in the gap between us and God and reconcile the two together because He became one of us, but one who never sinned, therefore only He could be the acceptable sacrifice and make us right with God.
It was not an angel it was the Son of God Himself as is stated very clearly in scripture. He died on our behalf and was punished for the sins of the world for all eternity, the sacrifice He became was so great that no other sacrifice is necessary, since the sacrifice Jesus made of Himself on our behalf is effective before God eternally.
We cannot atone for our faults as we have a sin nature and are therefore unacceptable to God from the very beginning. But Jesus did what nobody else could ever have done, become a man and sacrifice Himself for our redemption. He proved Himself acceptable in this way before God by rising from the dead.
If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Believing anything else will only lead to trouble for you, which is something you can avoid, time is so short, there are millions that do not know these truths, how many can we reach before we share together in the Marriage Supper of The Lamb?

I think that this generation that is seeing the storm clouds form over Israel will be the generation that will see the end times. Israel is the key- the things that are lining up just as the Bible says is like reading a newspaper - it is happening just as the Bible says.

All the talk of a one world government, a one world money, end time religion, Jerusalem standing alone, the building of the temple, all the signs the Bible speaks of are all things that will happen after the Rapture. It is an exciting time to be alive.

I've heard it said: The original Greek of the word "generation", in that verse, is from the root 'genos' which means family, offspring, tribe or perhaps most importantly: RACE

But I think I lean towards the view that one generation will see all those things. Not the generation Jesus was talking to.

The whole fig tree analogy is highly speculative.

Jesus basically says he is going to give them a parable, and he says, when you see the trees blossom, you know that summer is nigh... even so this generation shall not pass away until the end has come..

The point of the parable is that when the trees blossom, it is a sign that summer is at hand. Likewise, when we see the signs that Jesus describes in that whole passage, then we know the end is at hand.

Now, in Matthew it does seem to use the fig tree specifically. There is probably a reason for that. The different accounts of this teaching in Matthew, Mark, and Luke all emphasize different aspects of the teaching.

Thus it is very possible that the fig tree is meant to refer to Israel. However, that isn't the main point of the parable Jesus is saying. Whether it means that at all is really just guess work. Granted it might be correct, but it also may not be correct.

There are, however, very definite other signs listed and Jesus main point as shown by the other gospels was simply that we should have our eyes open and we should know what season we live in and what season is coming based upon the signs we see around us.

In the other gospels, (except John) this same conversation is recorded, but the same emphasis is not placed on the fig tree. Jesus just says the trees, or the fig tree and all the trees.
Thus, the general purpose of the parable appears to not be about the fig tree, but rather simply about the trees budding and blossoming as a sign of summer.

At the beginning of this passage Jesus lays out a series of things, such as false christs and false prophets shall come, there shall be wars and rumors of wars, there will be famines and natural disasters, and lawlessness will increase causing the love of many to grow cold. As a result people will kill each other and betray each other and especially believers will be persecuted.
But Jesus says that the end is not yet, all these things are like "birth pangs" or "labor pains".

He is making the analogy that like labor pains these signs will begin to happen slowly and lightly.. and they will get progressively worse over time, until they culminate right before the birth.

The signs that he lays out here correspond to the four horsement described in Revelation. They are spirits which God unleashed upon the world and they continue to grow stronger and their works become more and more evident until the end.

The first sign that Jesus says which appears to herald the immediate coming of the end is the abomination of desolation. We know because of the historical precedent for this in Daniel, and also because of what Paul says about this that the abomination of desolation is when the man of Sin, the lawless one (commonly called the anti-christ) causes an idol of himself to be set up in the temple in Jerusalem. Immediately following the arrival of the abomination of desolation comes the great tribulation which is the anti-christ inspired and empowered by satan engaging in a massive persecution of Jews and Christians. Then Jesus says

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

The next verse after this is the parable of the fig tree. In it Jesus says, even so when you see ALL THESE THINGS...

All these things refers to all the stuff he just finished saying (like the abomination of desolation, etc.
