This Face
Gazing in the mirror
What do I see there?
Blue eyes, a nose, some freckles
A head of light brown hair
Staring, this face is puzzled
Looking to see what it will be
Into the ever-present future
This face is trying to see
Will she become a masterpiece
clothed in glory and fame?
Or will she be an outcast
A reputation full of shame?
Will she be a wife someday?
A happy loving mother?
Or will she crash these visions
Will all her dreams be smothered?
But one thing this face is sure of
No one can ever waver
Is the trust she'll always put
In the One who saved her
The future rests in His strong grasp
The future He will hold
He is already forming
His plan that is untold
And every move this child makes
Every word and gesture
Has been knowingly made out
By the hand of the wise Master
This face turns back to the reflection there
A face staring back at her
She is determined to be content with today
The future doesn't matter
Gazing in the mirror
