A women on TV is on trial for murder by diphenhydraine oral, the liquid. Basically that's benedryl. She was working in a daycare and gave a toddler 3 ounces or 18 teaspoons(12.5mg per teaspoon) of the stuff which is 225mg and says she didn't think giving this poor little boy, would be hurt by it.
I could understand one accidently giving a kid maybe 15-16 mg because those little cups are not the most accurate but...besides the medication(thanks to google) isn't meant for kids under 6.
Is it common practice for daycares to be allowed to give medication to children? I don't know if I'd like the idea of a daycare assistant giving medication to any kid I may have. When I worked at a daycare the only medication we gave out was inhailors for asthma & even then two people had to be in the room and it had to be documented and all that.
This coming right after the nurse thinks my nephew needs drugs to be more "relaxed" and it just got me to thinking...these people the kids are left with, do they give our kids medication and we don't know it until something bad happens?
