Yah, maybe for a pet. But this kid has to live with this for the rest of his life. No offense, but... this kid is probably going to wind up getting picked on alot in his life, with a name like that... "Version 2.0" they may as well have tied an anchor to his neck and dropped him off a pier after his birth. That would have been more merciful.

Even if what you say is deeply and personally offensive and tasteless?

What you said might seem harmless enough to you, but to me it smacks of the objectification of young children. Treating them as objects instead of people.

I know she didn't, and I never said that either. She said my comments objectified infants, thereby treating them as objects and not human. I say that that is absurd.

The subject is so preposterous as to clearly dispel any notion that I would actually find said practice acceptable.

How did nyj use infant abuse as a source of humor? He was emphasizing that it is a bad idea to name your kid something stupid. He wasn't advocating drowning your child or that it would be better to drown your child than name it Version 2.0

Im confused about what nyj did wrong...

I don't think his name was "Version 2.0" I think it was First, Last, 2.0 instead of First, Last, Jr. or First, Last, II. I highly doubt people will go around calling him Version 2.0, and if a teacher reads it they will most likely read it the same as First, Last, II would be read, or not even read it at all. My little brother is a Junior and hardly anyone knows that, one of my best friends is a III'd and not many people know that either, these parents just wanted to be different, maybe not the smartest move but I don't think this is something that will humiliate the child for the rest of his life.

Jon Blake Cusak 2.0 according to the article. A silly name in my opinion, but parents unfortunately give their parents many silly names. Remind me to tell you all the story about my name once. The short of it is that my official two given names are: Eva Frank, my second name should have been Marussia, but instead I was named after my father Jozef Jan, who was suposed to be named Francois... Anyone still following? *G*
And actually... Belgiums Catholicism lays at the base of all the confusion in the first place.

At least its just the end of his name, you'd be surprised how many kids there are out there named "Tequila" or even "ESPN" (named after the tv network, but pronounced "ehspen")

Espen could be beautiful... named after the tree, like Willow, or Violet or Rose. Even 'Begonia' is an oldfashioned Belgian name. But then you can go to the other extreme and start calling your children 'Oak' or 'Fir'... Or Silverbirch...

I agree that Espen is a very nice sounding name, its just a little weird that its "ESPN"

There's also a lot of kids out there named "Skyye" like the vodka (I might be spelling that wrong.)
