  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It is about a young Irish monk, Aidan, who goes on a pilgrimage to Byzantium together with 13 other monks to deliver a very costly gift to the emperor. Their ship gets attacked by Vikings, and Aidan is captured. That is just the beginning of his story. He stays with the Danes (vikings), then goes with them to the very same city that was his original destination - Byzantium - only the vikings are planning to plunder it, and Aidan serves as the king's interpreter. It's a long book, and it is well worth reading!

/me thinks it sounds good, and if she can remember the title long enough to place a hold on it, then she will ;)

/me is currently reading a book on leadership, that her camp director wanted all the counselors to read before August - it's the one by Rudy Giulani, or however you spell that

/me has done a couple 'leadership classes' but thinks the book she's reading is better than the classes

/me thinks leading is a lot of work, and sometimes wouldn't mind just being an ignorer-of-everybody-else-with-no-leader-or-followers, or even just a follower
