Phil 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
I find it to be a good measuring line to see if I am thinking and saying God kind of thoughts.

  1. whatever things are true,
  2. whatever things are noble,
  3. whatever things are just,
  4. whatever things are pure,
  5. whatever things are lovely,
  6. whatever things are of good report,
  7. if there is any virtue
  8. and if there is anything praiseworthy

It doesn't sound so hard. Does it?
And yet we seem to have a hard time recognizing truth, identifying nobility, discerning justice, etc.
Is it because we have strayed so far?
Have we let anger overrule are reason? Emotion overrule intellect?

Yes, but what's difficult is going through trials to our faith, being put in circumstances where we are severely stretched. It's difficult to maintain calm in a storm, as Jesus' Disciples found out on the Sea of Galilee.

But you're right. To be thinking like God is to be children of God, pure of heart and letting the light of His love shine through. Whereas the world comes and goes with their affections, depending on who they're dealing with, we have the ability, spiritually, to love even when our enemies do bad things to us.

It is well worth meditating on what you're sharing. It will help genuine Christians to stay focused. God bless!

Indeed it keeps us focused on the good, rather than reacting to the evil, which is a temptation to despair, wrath and also various forms of backbiting, resentment and cruelty
