  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yeah i know right, i'm sick of the arguements and debates as well, it's even worse when they start to bully you.

Your right, its the bullying that starts to upset us, I can understand a adult debate.

I have my opinion and you have yours and we share them with each other.

But to bully others over your point is very frustrating.

I'm always either getting into arguments or being bullied on social media and i've simply had enough.

Understandable as social media is a choice unlike life offline. Sadly online the worst qualities usually are displayed. Even Christians are people and tend to have the same problems expressing themselves to others (lack of social grace). Try taking a break from social media and see if it helps you. Could find better ways to spend your time and connect with others offline (with family and friends, God and your Church). After you can decide if any online socializing is worth it, if so slowly socialize on here again and limit the time and effort you spend (choose forums/threads that interest you most and avoid the arguments by turning the cheek and not response moving on).

I didn't become a member on Christian forums to argue with people, I cane here to socialise with my fellow Brothers & Sisters in Christ. I have been through and still dealing with a lot in my life, adding more reasons to get anxiety & depression is the last thing I need right now. I don't have time for arguements, maybe I shouldn't have come here. I think I might just give up social media altogether.
I got off FB a few years ago. It was good for me.

I've taken a break from social media many times and even said I was going to leave for good but I always get the temptation of coming back which I think is bad and then it all happens all over again. I keep making the same mistake of going back to social media and I've had enough.

I think you have to replace it with something better, whether it be making new friends IRL, taking up some new hobbies, taking some classes, etc. I think that meetup.com site is great.

I don't trust meeting up with people online because you never know who you could be talking to, I refuse to do it because it can be dangerous and to meet up with people you talk to online is not guaranteed to be safe.

In life we need to steep back, recalculate our situation and breath.

If we are used by God to do his work and we are attacked this is a good thing.

I just hope to find a venue that I can both spread the word of God and be respected.

That’s true, you have to be careful. I like meetup.com because in most of the events a pettty large group of people are meeting, and it’s usually in a public plsce. I also like taking classes offered by my city, like drawing, photography or whatever I am interested in.

As with everything you need to find a good balance in your use of social media. You don't have to argue with people on social media or on forums, it's a choice. Social media is great to stay in touch with people who don't live close to you (anymore). I am pretty new on this website, but I don't believe this site is only about arguing with each other. There are discussions about life and faith here, but there are also topics about supporting each other and advice and so on. Also, there are some topics which are very trivial and not tough at all.

I feel like God is trying to lead me elsewhere because I just feel like social media isn't for me anymore.

I don't think CF is perfect, but I do think it has the nicest people i've seen in one place on the internet. Which probably speaks more for how bad it can be on places that don't have so many rules.

The main reason I came here is to get away from all the arguing. The Recreation Room is full of nice people who are having a good time fellowshipping with one another.

Please come join us, we'd love to have you in our rec room.

But what if you want to discuss more serious topics in a peaceful way? Seems all the places you can do this are the places where people fight the most.

Hmm. There aren't forums on here strictly for those of the same faith? I didn't know.

I don't recall what board or even what the subject was but I seem to recall it was you posting a fun thread, and out of the blue a Mr Nasty popped in. His comment was bad enough where I called him on it but just got some nothing reply.

The "If I'm unhappy, I'll do all I can to ruin others happiness, and wipe that smile right of their face." type person.

So yeah, after enough of that, can't blame you a bit, and it's sad that some have to come here to take out their bad day on others. And it's interesting, they tend to go for newbs who naturally aren't so confident to fight back, or are just trying to get along.

The "If I'm unhappy, I'll do all I can to ruin others happiness, and wipe that smile right of their face." type person.

And don't get me wrong, I don't mind arguing in a debate and run across plenty of meanness there, but meanness just for the sake of meanness is another thing altogether.

I know the feeling, been there more times then I can count. The debates are endless and trying to just get into a nice Bible study, well, it such a challenge. It sounds like you need a break from the boards, but don't give up on us entirely. You never know, you might get curious latter and believe me I understand that you probably have a lot of stuff going on in your life.

I can tell you why I keep coming back, it seems like I always learn something. I would prefer to not have to go through a debate to get it but I've learned a lot on here, it's kind of the process.

I hope you feel better about this in time, you can always come back. Regardless, that's for your contributions and I wish you well in the future.

Grace and peace,
Mark

Being the same faith doesnt mean the discussion will be peaceful.
Ain't that the truth, it seems sometimes the closer you are in your beliefs the more impact differences have.
