well, i guess this is the best place to post this..... i was thinking about joinnig the army, im used to taking orders and have very little pride, is it really as bad as people say? anyone have any suggestions for a college kid not sure of what to do next?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Don't join for those reasons. 
Join because you have pride and want to do something with your life. But most importantly, join because you have prayed and asked God what He wants you to do. God will answer when He thinks you are receptive.

The military is one option.
If you want to join thats great. But don't do it unless you
are ready to go into combat.
OTS would be the best way to go. Colledge edumacated, go in with
bars rather then stripes.
If you do, listen to those with experience(not just rank). Rank means you have done your time and learned from a book. Experience means you know how things work in real life. I'd trust an experienced Sargent rather then a bossy Capt.

Does your college have an ROTC program? If so, then I strongly encourage you to talk to the officer in charge of the program. It doesn't hurt to ask about the experiences of current and former members of the military to see if you have the personality of going into that kind of lifestyle. Some people, me included lol, are not suited to military life and are destined to be civilians.
If you do eventually decide that you want to serve in the military then I strongly suggest that you GO NAVY!
