LOL!:D PR you are a pip! Are you two back on good terms now?

Zee, you could always wear the Papal regalia with just a few accessories. Sorta like a tail, horns peeking out from under the Miter, and of course, the obligatory pitch-fork. Well... maybe not. LOL it was just a thought...

I had no problems with Halloween till the excesses began. The poisoned and booby-trapped candy, the satanic rituals, etc... My youngest and I spent an hour or two every year discussing and remembering those who had passed on. His mother, grandmother and father, aunts, uncles, etc... After all, the 31st is all Hallows eve. The celebration of our beloved departed and brothers and sisters in Christ. It's the eve of All Saints Day. Hence the connection with the pagan Druid holiday.

There are some redeeming qualities to this holiday. It's not completely pagan. And Zee, throwing the same insults back at the unsaved (even though they deserve it and it just might feel pretty darn good) isn't a good idea. We are to live in this world. This is where the Amish have erred. They have separated themselves from the world and hidden away in their enclaves. I think a Christian can participate in the Halloween celebration. We just need to keep an eye on our focus and try to turn this celebration back to it's Christian direction.

I remember a reformed church in Chino and another in Garden Grove (So. Cal.) that had a harvest festival the 31st and a church picnic on the 1st. Both were very successful and quite popular with the community at large. The Garden Grove church attributed a considerable amount of their growth from the festival/picnic format. It was a way to reach out to the unsaved on their own terms in a fun and unthreatening or intimidating way.

Well actually the original idea was this. I was going to be Pope Benedict and let's face it that's one scary lookin' dude. Kinda reminds me of Count Dracula. I envision him sweeping down on the villages at night looking for young children. So, since I already have a pair of dental acrylic fangs, I thought I could be the Pope as I see him, a blood-sucking vampire. LOL The reason I didn't initially offer this info is because I thought someone might come thru the forum and report me for making fun of the count, er, I mean the pope.

You do realize that my comment was an attempt at humour as indicated by the LOL at the end, right?

How 'bout dressing as Katie Luther? ;)

Then I'd have to drag six little Luthers with me. No thanks!

I'll stick with androgony.

Oh my gosh! That's it! I knew there was something eerily familiar about his pointed features.

Eeeekkk...count Benny strikes again. ^_^

Actually, if you look at pictures of Papa Ratzi (say it out loud) and pictures of Emperor Palpatine...

I think you see where this is going. ;)

I was thinking of going as the Pope. But we didn't prepare in time with the right costume, so maybe I'll just be the forgiven sinner that I am. :)
As the pope you could wear a sign that says "papal bull" :D ..................or not :)

Ah, but even the emperor didn't have the power he claimed to possess. Remember he told Anakin that if they worked together they would be able to discover the secret to cheating death itself. Anakin assumed that they would be able to do this while Padme was alive and before she gave birth as his vision revealed that she would die during child birth. Unfortunately, thanks to him and that little force choke on Mustafar, and betrayal of the Jedi thing, his vision did come to pass.

Heh, no. My grandfather had a different sort of look for himself.

You skipped a generation. Does that mean that the pope is your grandfather? ;) :D
