Better to be safe than sorry though (about shutting down because of bad storms).

It's great that so much money was raised!

You must have had a great turnout for Relay. They don't raise nearly as much here, but we're a small town. Tiger is going to walk the survivor's lap with his grandma when we have Relay here in a couple weeks.

it was the school district i was in -- 4 high schools, i believe 4 middle schools, and 8-12 elementary schools -- and it is a rich district for the most part (rockwood for the locals, lol)

i know we had $100,000 raised from BEFORE the night began, and i know that did not include what some of the schools had done for fundraisers, etc -- that was just registrations and online donations, etc

i know the school i was at probably raised $8000+ -- we did a run/walk, $2 a friday for teachers to wear jeans (x45+ staff, x12 weeks), plus other fundraisers during the year that all raised $500+

There have been a lot of Relay fundraisers around here lately. Bake sales, garage sales, bracelets. On Tiger's last day of preschool last week, I found a Relay bracelet in his backpack that someone had left at the school for me. My teenage niece in Wisconsin has been doing Relay fundraising because of Tiger. I think the one here last year raised over $10,000.

Ours here are always in April, but it was cancelled early due to severe weather. I don't think it hurt their fundraising, though.

Sure has died down in this thread. Went to my mother's church yesterday, I was going anyway, didn't want to be at the one I've been attending with the Pres. giving communion. My sister ended up getting her baby baptized after church yesterday. My 7 yr old granddaughter went up to the pastor after the baptisim and told him her name was Trinity like the Holy Trinity and she told him she learned about the Holy Trinity at my church. The pastor just looked at me. I'm going to another LCMS church this coming sunday I think.

in 2 weeks (father's day) my Godson is being "dedicated" at a non-denom church...we will see how it really is and what i will need to do at the service

Technically, I don't think he would be called your "Godson" since "dedication" is not baptism.

I will be missing Relay for Life this year as I will be at the LWML convention in Sioux Falls.

I also have my checkup next week. This is the one where they do more bloodwork, chest xray, mammo and who knows what all else. Makes for a long day, but when I see my Dr. in the afternoon, I usually get to do a Happy Dance!!

Kae, you will have to let us know how your checkup goes. How many years know? I seem to have forgotten.

Ok, I know I have been away the last 10 days or so. I come back and read that DaRev is going to be a visiting Pastor at the church Porter attends. When did this meeting in person get scheduled. I think you both need chaperones!! Yes, I know how rowdy pastor's get.

I have given up trying to understand any of it. Most of my congregation thinks it's the most entertaining event since Lonesome Dove was filmed here.

You better believe it! Why at our circuit meetings we all sit around drinking red wine and imported beer and argue over whether or not there really is a Third Use of the Law!

Checkup is tomorrow. I just had my 1 year post treatment anniversary. I'm still a little scared of recurrence but I know that no matter what, God's going to take care of me!
