Just popping in! I don't know if anyone remembers me, but I pop in and visit the Lutheran forums when I do pop in. I just don't have the time I'd like to visit sites online.

I hope everyone is feeling blessed today.

I remember you. Please come back more often.

It would be nice if it would stay 90 year round

Oh...
God forbid! That would put people like me in a permanant torpor! How about eighty, that's a good temperature...
Then again, I would miss the snow we get here. I love playing in the snow.

Revrand, what does gewiblich mean? I'm not familliar with that one. Hey, gimmie a break. Grams (Nana Liebling) died in '62, I'm lucky to have gotten the rest of it (LOL).

stude - "Das ist gewiblich wahr" means "certainly this is true"....(although, when i put in just "gewiblich" in the translator, it says it means "commercial" - LOL)

The phrase "Das ist gewiblich wahr" appears at the end of the explanation of each of the articles of the creed in Luther's Small Catechism in German. It is translated into English, "This is most certainly true."

:o Are you mad?

As much as I don't enjoy the deep freeze we're having this year, I most certainly appreciate that summer temps rarely get close to 90. I begin to wilt when it gets above 80.

no socks/shoes weather!

Not around here! I don't care how hot it is, the rocks and gravel would eat my feet in seconds! Not to mention the various creepy-crawlies hiding in the debris and rocks all over the place.

Now at the beach, it's a different story!

Heading to son and daughter-in-law's today in WI. Praying for good weather. It's supposed to snow like crazy when we come home on sunday.

Have fun, Ang. I'm praying for good weather for everyone travelling over the next few weeks. It's supposed to start snowing here again next week, but I guess it's better to be flying out of it than in and Heathrow seems to have handled it well so far.

We are supposed to get a major storm this weekend. Rain, ice, snow...who knows. I probably won't be able to go to church on Sunday if it's anything like they are saying. Hubby's 4x4 is in the shop (spun a bearing in the axle and needs a whole new rear-end...he already ordered a refurb one but they are waiting on a part before they ship and then the dealer needs to install) plus it needs seat-belts in the back (a previous owner removed them) so my brother can come with us.

Good news is the pastor has his sermons online

I'm hoping the weather holds out for the staff dinner for the church where my hubby works. It's Saturday (he never actually told me what time).

I think this is going to be a bad winter.

Ditto, ditto...

Are you planning on travelling this week, Porter? If so, may our gracious Lord protect the wings that carry you!

I think this is going to be a bad winter.

Good, bad, it's all kind of relative. As for where I'm at, hopefully it will be a cold winter. That will guarantee snow and cold enough weather to make it stay long enough to recharge the water table up here.

All the same, I hope things go well in your area and your truck goes better than my friend Paula's did. Oi, what a nightmare! Did you say the P.O. removed the seatbelts(in the rear)?
Gosh, that's illegal here in the People's Republic of California! Course, my vehicles always send the CHP around the twist as they have never had belts. Thus, according to the law, they're not required.
I do feel rather insecure without them though.
But the floors have to be fixed before belts can be installed and there's the brakes transmission that come first.

Back to the weather though, lots of snow would be nice (for here). Snowshoing out is a small price to pay for water in the summer.

Well it's illegal to not wear seatbelts which is why my brother couldn't go with us. Yea the part was $1500 and then $600 for labor to install. Not good timing at all. On the plus the guy who does the plowing at the church (my husband is maintenance manager) said he will do the sidewalks if my hubby can't make it out. That's a huge relief.

Yeah, the seatbelt law is here too. However, there is a loophole for older cars in which they're not original equipment. However, every car I've had, up till now, has had them. Even my parent's cars had them back in the fifties. The dealer thought my parents were nutz when they ordered belts and had to be forced to install them. Thank God we never really needed them, though they were always used. In fact, my children (step) had never used belts much till I came onto the scene. They found the requirement to wear them novel, to say the least. Not to mention the luxury of a full-sized car (Their mother had a Honda CVCC). Of course, this was all long before Big Brother decided to enforce common sense and look over our shoulders.

As to repairs, Yeah... I can sympathise with you. I'm looking at a like amount for my brakes and another thousand or so for the transmission. Where the money is going to come from... well that depends on what I can sell. Know anyone who wants to buy a complete right-of-way and rolling stock for a Garden Railway (G-scale)? I'll give them a really good price.

White chat limestone gravel here to that covers all our vehicles when we go to town. There is even chat dust in the gas tank chamber where the cap is, around the insides of the door jams and on the motor. UGH! We have some antique cars that we haven't been able to drive for years because of the dust.
