Well, we have the icing today. Like PW, we are under a storm advisory, but it is for all of it to be ice. Don't think I will be making it to church tonight and we live next door too. Actually, I suspect that we will cancel.

Oh come on! So ya break a hip while walking to church, it's not the worst thing that could happen. ^_^

Our 80 year old members breaking a hip. We have lots of elderly and they are the ones who drive on the roads and come.

My comment was directed at you, since you said you live next door to your church, I imagined you would walk there. I have to drive to church, but it's only a block away and since I have a Jeep with 4-wheel drive, I am without excuse if I miss. Of course, why I have a Jeep with 4-wheel drive when I live in the desert and don't have to worry about snow and ice is a little thought provoking. LOL

Well, actually, if I were to break a hip, it would mess a lot of things up for me.

Yeah, I have always wondered about people and Jeeps and other 4 wheel drive vehicles in certain places. My cousin in Honolulu has one.
Do you seriously think I would want you to break a hip? Even though you have busted my chops severely at the other place? ^_^ Your cousin probably goes off-road with theirs. I could technically do that with mine, but as it is a Grand Cherokee Ltd. I really don't want to take it through the Sonoran Desert out here. It's just too nice.

LOL Zec, you can be so funny. Enjoy that nice warm weather and think of us in the north sliding down the roads.

I know, but looks aren't everything. I don't feel all that warm right now, but I have some kind of cold, going to the doctor later today. But yeah, having lived in the midwest and out east, I know how you people slide down the roads. ^_^

I wish we would. Hubby informed me today that awhile ago the council decided that Matt would just have to show up and whoever made it to church made it to church. And since Matt is a firm believe that we go to church when there's church, that means us. That means there's ALWAYS enough to have a church service because there's 6 of us.

I'm not complaining, although I'm not looking forward to ice skating over to church where it will be freezing inside because they keep the thermo set to 66, but there are people with a mindset like Matt's, that if there's church they have to go. Those are the people I worry about.

Hopefully someone on the council will have the sense to cancel (Matt doesn't have the authority for canceling it would seem) because the roads are only going to get worse, and right now they're already slippery and coated in ice.

Sometimes I am annoyed at stubborn Germans.

My husband prefers that the council makes the decision. In the 11 years we have been here, they are more likely now to cancel than they use to be. Might have something to do with the idea that it is the ones who come who shouldn't be out in the ice and snow. The older generation here is the one with the idea that if there is worship, they should be there.

My son decided to make the trip this afternoon/evening. Not sure where he will run into the mess, it is 42 in southern Nebraska right now. He does have the weather and road information on his phone so he can get updated information when he gets into the nasty area. Though, as I think about it, he usually manages to time his driving just right. Last Christmas was he worse time of driving.

May we all be mindful of the blessings all of us enjoy. We are all very fortuneate to be in this country where we can worship freely. Well, at present anyway.

All the same, even though the present economic downturn is worse than that of the thirties, there are many government and private forms of assistance that weren't in existance eighty years ago. So, no matter how bad it has gotten, we are better off than our parents and grandparents were. Well, at least in my own case I am, and am very thankful for that not so very small blessing.

May our gracious Lord bless you all.

I don't cancel church services. I'm there for whoever comes when the weather is bad. I firmly believe that my membership has the good sense to stay home if traveling is treacherous.
Neither does my church. We're known around town as the church that never cancels services. Last Christmas we had a bad snow storm and my son and I walked to Christmas Eve service. There were only about ten people there, but it was a really nice.

Around here, when the churches in town cancel, we know it is really bad weather as the churches in town don't usually cancel. It is the ones not in town, on the side roads that the road crews don't pretreat or clear, where you find the cancellations.

No shopping for me today. Too much snow, cold, cars and people. Now if my daughter and daughter in law were here, I would brave it all like we did last year. I'm missing my kids, but did have a good day with our friends yesterday.

I tend to avoid going to any stores on this day.

Well, it's a beautiful snowy day here in beautiful Downtown Fawn Lodge Ca. We've recieved about ten inches since six am. Paula and I were going to attend a memorial service this afternoon and I think that's been scotched. There's no way we'll be able to cross Buckhorn summit. Thankfully, I've enough supplies laid up in the larder, kerosene and propane to last a while. So, might as well just concentrate on indoor stuff today and enjoy the scenery out the window. I guess there's no longer any excuse to wash those dishes and scrub the kitchen floor.:p;)
