I admire those who are willing to lend a hand when a neighbor needs help. I admire those who support their friends even when they don't agree with the paths the friend has chosen to walk. I admire those who reach out to those who are suffering, who are in pain, who are in need - even if only to say 'I care.'

I admire those people who really rally round when there's a need and, even nowadays, there seems to be plenty of them! When my family and I were involved in a serious car accident two years ago we had people bringing round food, offering lifts, doing the gardening & the housework, sending cards and most importantly of all praying. I was amazed how the Christian grapevine worked and we had people, many we didn't know, from all over the world hearing about us and praying for us. That's what you get when you belong to the biggest family in the world! And it made all the difference.

And I admire my daughter who had the worst of it and could have died or been paralysed. Less than two months later she was back at school, with metal in her spine and wearing a support around her back, for her final year. She didn't take a single day off, apart from doctor or hospital visits, and passed her exams with flying colours. She's made of strong stuff, leans on a strong Saviour, and is a huge encouragement to me.

I simu-posted with you, and missed this one until I came back and re-read.

That is the stuff life is made of!

I admire stories of truth like yours.

I've been wanting to start this thread ever since I saw the other one and I hope that this doesn't turn into a rant.
The small town that I live in may be a backwards small southern town. But there are many, many good things about it and the people who live here. Living in the heart of the Bible Belt, the local churches always have and still do play a major role in the community. Good manners have never gone out of style. In this town no one hesitates to help his neighbor whether he knows him or not. Strangers aren't strangers for long.
I could go on and on about my hometown. There is some good in everyone. And I urge you instead of looking for fault in your neighbor look for the good in him. And of course pray for him.

Beautiful post!

I live in a city of over 200,000, but I have amazing neighbors also. They watch over one another, pray for each other, and encourage each other.

When Katrina hit New Orleans we offered homes and shelter to the survivors.

We are teased about having a church on every corner, and it isn't quite that good, but we do have many, many churches in our city.

The teachers and administrators at the public schools near my home are deacons and teachers in the churches near my home.

I worked for a very wealthy man a few years who went out of his way to help others. When homeless came to him seeking handouts or money, he would ask them to weed the flower bed or sweep the driveway, then pay them well for the service. When a famer couldn't get a loan for irrigation, and was going to lose his crops if he didn't irrigate, he made a personal loan of over $300,000 to him, saying, "I trust you."

I admire older Christian women who give of themselves to 'help' us younger ones. I love their wisdom and their 'matter of fact' way that Christ is ALL to them. That He is their lives. I love them and what God has given them to share with us.

I truly admire selfless people.
My mother was a very good example of this. She suffered from multiple sclerosis for most of my childhood. I didn't know it at the time but she was given the opportunity to have surgery that would stop the pain of the disease but would cripple her for life. She chose not to have the surgery and endure that pain just in case they found a cure. She wanted to be able to walk again for us if she could.
She's has been with the Lord 29 years on 8/16. God could not have given me a better example to follow.
