I've been wanting to start this thread ever since I saw the other one and I hope that this doesn't turn into a rant.
The small town that I live in may be a backwards small southern town. But there are many, many good things about it and the people who live here. Living in the heart of the Bible Belt, the local churches always have and still do play a major role in the community. Good manners have never gone out of style. In this town no one hesitates to help his neighbor whether he knows him or not. Strangers aren't strangers for long.
I could go on and on about my hometown. There is some good in everyone. And I urge you instead of looking for fault in your neighbor look for the good in him. And of course pray for him.

Single Dads who have done more than produce an offspring. They are loving, caring, diaper changing, up all night, time commited dads!
And
Couples who have divorced but despite thier differences remained friends. They show respect for one another because they know that is what is best for their child.

Yes, I love our little town and it's people and our little country church. (The wal mart I referred to in the other thread isn't in our little town), I love the people here who bend over backwards for each other and everyone is family. We also live in the Bible belt, and as a for instance...when my church family foud out I was going to have to spend 6 weeks in bed, they knew that I ran a support group online and also a ministry through a fellowship group...a wonderful person there helped us to purchase a laptop so I could continue the ministry.
I Praise God Daily for the people God has placed in our life.
Thank you for starting this thread...it is much needed.
I spend more time Praising God and seeing the good than I do getting on a soapbox...thank you for the reminder

I admired the grizzled old cowboy at Target today, who told my kids wonderful stories of how the old Rodeos in small western towns used to be.

I admire people who respect the elderly and listen carefully to their often repetetive stories, realizing that things that are repeated are often remembered. I admire those people, because they know they are listening to our fast fading heritage.

I am a wierd mom who makes my kids be those people.

I am still "friends" with my ex. As far as one can be friends when a husband beats his wife to a bloody pulp. I had to go to the ER. In spite of all of that, I never said anything to our son until he was old enough. (Old enough was 18.) I left my first husband when our son was 9 months old, he's 25 now. He would always ask "If you and dad get along so well, why aren't you still married?" My answer, up til he was 18, was always "Sometimes 2 people just don't get along and it's best if they don't live in the same house."
I admire step-dads that love their step children as their own. My husband loves my son. He's gone to every baseball game, every football game. Has given his ear for all the "man" talks. My son loves my husband. I praise God for that because I know it isn't so in all relationships.

Lets here it for adoptive parents too. We adopted our youngest. She has definetly proven to be the labor of our hearts. My husband had been a trooper though it all even though she tries so hard to push his love away. He always tells her, no matter how hard you push I will never let go, because I love you!

When it comes to people I admire most, I have to be a little bias here and say my hubby, he took a very broken and battered soul, who's life had very recently been shattered in every way imaginable. And with the patience of a saint, loved me for the me he knew before I was "hurt", the true me he knew was still buried inside, he nurtured that part of me back out again. He loved me back to me.
He even took on my girls, who weren't ready for me to "be with" anyone but "daddy" (mostly my youngest) especially someone 13 years younger than me...even though we'd been apart almost 3 years.
Thank the good Lord that Shawn stayed in it for the long run and showed that to them and everyone, and my family loves and admires him, almost as much as I do now.
