"They" pretend God doesn't exist when in fact, deep down, they know He does.

JGG!! God loves you and is ready to communicate with you any time. He is like a great friend who will listen and talk to you at any time. I didn't believe it for the first 28 years of my life but it's true. And you know what? You can't communicate with God until you believe he is there. Here is what my first communication with him looked like:

Hey are you there?

Yep.

I'm feeling kind of lonely, can you give me a sign outside that you are listening? I'll look out my window and wait for your sign.

[nothing happening]

Come on, can't you just make something weird happen? Like make a street light go out, or make a car do something strange?

[nothing happens]

Please? I really need to talk to you.

But aren't you already talking to me? Didn't you already start doing that when you "asked for a sign"?

Yes.

So what would the sign accomplish? You're doing two opposing things--trying to talk to me, yet at the same time not really believing I'm here and asking for some extra "sign". Which is it? Do you want to talk, or play a silly game of trying to get me to prove myself to you? Belief is the key word. Just....start talking to me as if I'm right here (which I am) and fully believe it.

I want to talk :)

Okay. You know I'm always here for you right?

That's so awesome. It's strange, I usually think talking to you is impossible. And apparently it is so simple. If it is so easy, why doesn't everyone do it?

Because you live in the fallen world and there are those who would try to convince you that hearing "voices in your head" is abnormal, when in fact it's just me...or "God" as you call me in your language. I'm always right here, so close to you. So close that you take it for granted and even forget about it. You are bathing in "me" all the time, and anytime you need to talk to me, I'm there. In fact you don't even need to use your mouth or say it, I know your thoughts and feelings so you can talk to me literally any time, any where.

Think about it :)

I know I have another thread going, and I will respond to it once my move is over with, but in the meantime, here's something else for you to chew on for a bit...

"I think everyone makes it too complicated. The simple fact of the matter is that most atheists don't want to acknowledge the existence of God because then they'd have to do something about it. If they can manage to ignore the elephant in the room and blindly stumble through life (and often stumble into the elephant) they can pretend they believe God doesn't exist when in fact, deep down, they know He does."

WRONG. Do you believe in Allah? Do you know that a Muslim can say the same for you? What now?
And what would I have to "do about it"? Pray for God to save me from my disbelief? NO! I regret nothing. Even if I died today and from the thousands of Gods I found yours up there, do you think I would knee down and go like "Please save me. I didn't mean it!"?! NO! I would say "Well, I was wrong - I examined the evidences and they were against you. You could have been more clear. But still, I lived an amazing, fulfilled, moral life, and I don't regret it. If you want to send me to Hell for my disbelief only, go ahead".

And for what I've seen in Bible, life, television, documentaries, theist debates, and on this forum, your God sounds like an imoral monster. Even if, deep down, I believed in him, never would I want to worship him, much less spend an enternaty next to him. No, thanks.
I rest my case.
Piece.

=============================

Prayer doesn't work because someone out there is listening, it works because someone in here is listening. I've paid attention. I've pictured what I want to happen in my life. I've meditated extensively on my family, my future, my past actions and what did and didn't work for me about them. I've looked hard at problems and thought hard about their solutions.

Adam Savage (Mythbusters)

An all-good God would not want anyone to suffer. An all-knowing God would know who would suffer ahead of time, and an all-powerful God could prevent suffering before it happens. Thus, if there were an all-good, all-knowing, and all-powerful God, then there would be no need for prayer in the first place, especially if the prayer is used to alleviate illnesses or any other type of suffering.
