  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This isn't directly TV related, but it is inspired by television. I just finished watching a teleplay of "Fail Safe." It was a star and character actor filled movie about the tensions and issues facing the United States during the Cold War. Basically what happens is during a situation where an unidentified aircraft makes it though NORAD airspace B-52s are dispatched to attack the Soviet Union.

One of the aircraft passes the "fail safe" point where they will ignore all transmissions to halt the mission. Don Cheadle, one of my favorite actors, portrays the co-pilot on the B-52 that slipped though. I recognized him immediately despite wearing a helmet and breathing mask.

I realize that as someone who I'd seen previously, Mr. Cheadle would probably stick out more in my mind than someone I'd never seen before, but I couldn't help but think of the idiots out there who claim all whites, blacks or asians "look the same."

You go Don Cheadle! This white man will recognize you in any movie you're in.
