there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground...

Genesis 2 is wrapped in metaphoric language (just like Genesis 1) to hide His knowledge from the minds of natural men who only see the face of the “parables” and not the spiritual meanings behind them. The “cherubim”…the parables… keeps them out of the understanding.

Adam was the first man (among natural men…the “adamah”… at the time) to have the Spirit of God breathed/enter into him so that he could preach the revealed knowledge of God among men who did not.

Adam had the “breath of lives” (plural in Hebrew)…the Spirit of God… breathed into him so that he could preach the knowledge of God to the “Adamah”…naturally-minded, earthly men.

Gen 2:
(5) And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

The LORD God had not cause it to “rain” upon the earth yet.

The “rain” in Genesis 2 speaks of the knowledge of God that “drops as the rain” upon the earth ….upon mankind.

It had not “rained” yet upon naturally/carnally-minded men because there was not a “preacher man” so-to-speak that could preach to others with the Spirit of God. No man had the Spirit of God indwelling in him yet.

There was not a “man”….an Adam (a man with the Spirit of God within him)…to till/work the “ground”….in Hebrew: “Adamah” (the natural men who do not know God). There is a difference between Adam and the “Adamah”…or the “ground”. Adam was to “work or till”…preach…to the Adamah (the “ground”).

Deu 32:1-2 KJV
(1) Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

(2) My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:

The “rain” brings forth salvation and righteousness from the earth (as plants and every herb of the field) among men who will hear and believe. The preaching of the knowledge of God to the Adamah brings forth salvation and righteousness among mankind.

Isa 45:7-8 KJV
(7) I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
(8) Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.

We are to hear the knowledge of God as preached by the Spirit of God and receive it in faith (as the “rain” that falls upon the earth) and bring forth “herbs”….righteousness.

Heb 6:7-8 KJV
(7) For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:

Some will hear and bring forth evil as a response….that which bears forth “thorns and briers”.

(8) But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

The whole face of the “ground” or Adamah (natural men) was fogged/shrouded. There was no knowledge of God among the “adamah” who only behaved in their earthly wisdom. Mankind was in ignorance of God.

Genesis 2:
(6) But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

The mist rose up from the earth as the Adamah behaved only in the earthly wisdom as there was no wisdom that descended from above yet (no “rain” had fallen upon them as there was no “adam”…a man with the Spirit of God indwelling in him).

Jas 3:14-16 KJV
(14) But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
(15) This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
(16) For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

The “Adamah” back then only walked in the vanity of their mind ….singularly-minded in the emptiness of their mind ….not having any understanding of God.

Eph 4:17-18 KJV
(17) This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

The “Adamah” is still here today and their understanding is darkened. They do not know God. They have no knowledge of God within them. They do not have the Spirit of God within them.

The “Adamah” is alienated from the life of God (now as well as back then) through the IGNORANCE (not knowing) that is in them.

(18) Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

The Adamah…the fleshly men of the world who live earthly according to the carnal mind…cannot please God. They do not have His Spirit dwelling in them. They are in the earthly men only (the Adamah) behaving in the flesh and not living according to the Spirit.

Rom 8:5-9 KJV
(5) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
(6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
(7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
(8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
(9) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

The LORD God (He IS Judge) formed “adam” of the “dust” of the Adamah and breathed into his “nostrils”…the wrath of man…the breath of LIVES (plural).

The wrath of man (nostrils = wrath) does not work the righteousness of God. Only with His Spirit can we then delight in doing His commandments while the Adamah who does not have His Spirit cannot please God as they live after the flesh only.

God breathed His Spirit into a man who was once a part of the Adamah. The first Adam was from the Adamah while the second man/Adam (Jesus Christ) was from above…from Heaven but made like the Adamah. Jesus was not taken from among the Adamah of the world but was sent here from above.

Adam was formed from the “dust” of the Adamah….that is, we was considered “low” among the men of the world at the time. God chooses the lowly things (the “dust”) of the world to shame the highly exalted among the world (the world honors their own).

Genesis 2:
(7) And the LORD God formed man (Adam) of the dust of the ground (adamah), and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (lives); and man became a living soul.

He chooses us also from the “dust” of the Adamah. Not many are wise after the flesh (the Adamah). Not many are mighty….not many are noble…who are called.

1Co 1:26-29 KJV
(26) For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

He chooses the foolish things (the “dust”) of the world to confound the wise and the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.

(27) But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
(28) And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
(29) That no flesh should glory in his presence.
