• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And here is why,

Study Biology, if you can tell me how life happened otherwise, go for it. Don't tell me there isn't a Creator unless you are willing to explain this. You don't have to accept the Christian "God", but when you try to explain away the immensity of how life works to a random occurance, you are only fooling yourself.

Take your own advice - study biology. Life from Non-life is abiogenesis, which is chemistry and is not random. Evolution is biology and works via Natural Selection, which is not random (random is the opposite of selective).

HI.

This forum is really for debating creationism vs evolutionary theory - not the existance of God (Unless you are making the mistake of equating athiesm with acceptance of evolution).

There are a few athiests who frequent this forum, but this is not really the forum to debate them on the existance of God.

I agree that God exists. I also understand that evolution is a reality - as do a majority of those who consider themselves Christians.

By the way, I doubt that there is anyone who thinks that life is a random occurance. Surely you are not suggesting that evolutionary theory proposes this are you?

People used to say this about lightening (as well as a lot of other things).

This is called God of the Gaps theology. That which we can't understand (yet) must be attributed to God.

That might work well for a personal theology, but as the past has shown us, it doesn't work well as a scientific way to study nature.

I disagree.

Lightening and Evolution are two seperate tenets of science. The OP suggested you study biology - which apparently you seem to be unwilling to do.

Science doesn't prove things, it falsifies them and so far no one has falsified evolution.

incorrect. but exactly the kind of answer I would expect from someone WHO HAS NO PROOF OR FACTS TO SUPPORT HIS CLAIM.

Just read the multitude of threads around here for evidence of evolution. Here, read this - http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/comdesc/

Btw, what is evolution?

From my response, how did you come to the conclusion that I am unwilling to study biology.

From the OP, it looks like the poster is ready to give up and come to a premature conclusion. God did it. (Much like the ID movement would like mainstream science to do it would seem).
