  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is more praise and worship music out there besides hillsongs. I don't understand how people get so caught up in hillsongs. So they have a huge church and a huge budget. Congrats

I 100% agree with you...Hillsong has a great ministry, but they are not EVERYTHING related to praise and worship. Also I love how people call it a "local" church...nothing against mega churches because I do believe they are often beneficial, but it's not like walking into to your local baptist church and having a one on one with the pastor. We need to make sure that the church isn't more important than the message.

Hillsong? Never heard of em. j/k

Jeff Deyo is very awesome, I love that style ...more live than on cd but both are good.

Rock 'N' Roll Worship Circus isn't the usual/casual style of praise & worship music, becuz they don't sing the same songs that everybody else sings a hundred thousand times over ...but for me that only makes their music & style all the more wonderful and enjoyable.

David Crowder Band, very very nice, very Loveable music.

Matt Redman ...good guy, actually I've heard his music live more than I have heard his recorded stuff.

Delirious? hey you can't deny these guys. Afterall their lead vocal wrote so many of the songs that we constantly sing, and are commonly the popular songs amoung youth worship. Very fun and good stuff.

Yeah these days there's a lot to choose from. Hillsong isn't even something that enters my cd player...and they don't write stellar songs, so let's get on with world and stop crushing on Hillsong. ...it's just gross.

DCB is my favorite. They rock in concert too. I took my Luther League to a DCB show in Omaha NE a few months back and we had such a great time. Whenever we play one of their songs at our monthly youth service the kids go nuts.

My favorite is Joyful Noise/I Will Not Be Silent but Sing Like Your Saved during the encore was a ruckus jam out that left us sweaty, hoarse and dog tired but we felt so spirit filled. It was a top ten spiritual moments in my life.

i agree... it's not about the church.. it's about the attitude of the hearts..... Hillsongs have an awsome anointing and we should praise God for their obediance to His Spiritual leading.... but there are many brothers and sisters across the world doing exactly the same.....
God bless and protect each one of them.

Heh... and I thought people were only sick of the Hillsong coverage here in Sydney :p

Al jokes aside they have a tremendous ministry and that uncanny knack of being able to produce amazing songs... but yeah there are great musos and songwriters in an array of nations. Praise God! hey you think you're suffering... how do you reckon I feel when our church which is no more than 15 minutes drive from Hillsong is inundated with Hillsong music when there's Third Day (yeehah!), Passion, Delerious, Jeff Deyo, Matt Redman, Tim Hughes... and even our youth band Judah, which has seen about 20 songs birthed - and all too often they are ignored because - "o we all know these Hillsong tunes, it will be easier to learn and all"... but in defence of our church it's improving... just not letting our own songs in :( One song i wrote (the chorus is in my signature in BLUE) has received some play at church but that's it :(

IMHO worship THE WORLD OVER is getting stale lyrically a touch... while musically boundaries continue to be pushed it's getting harder to find a song that's unique. One person who is at the top of his game right now and bucking this trend is Tim Hughes. I met the bloke last year and you can add TREMENDOUS humility to that long list of gifts and talents!! But yeah... love Hills but equally I love other stuff... and aside from thirdday, my fave at the moment is DCB - especially Lime and Illuminate.

we need more metal churches in my opinion

That'd be a pretty decent idea, I'd like it....well actually I'd love it.
The best version of How Great Thou Art that I've ever heard was done by a local metal band at their concerts. I'll never forget it though, and it'll never be the same for me. Hearing that old hymn in that style of music really put the meaning back into it. It was awesome! I do wish that more churches would be open to trying their old songs in a new style, at the very least. It puts life back into them, just like they were meant to be when original written.

It is sad to see churches and worshippers stuck in the same old same, just becuz that's all they know. It's very sad. I believe that would be the demise of most churches if it were to stay the way it is.

It's all about perspective...when all you hear are "jazzed" up hymns, sometimes you just yearn for the original tune! Guess that's why I love the group Selah so much...they are awesome!

My church is almost Hillsong free...^_^ But that's because we've found really great music by other more independent Aussie writers that we've grown to love because of the simple way that they demonstrate the Gospel. Personally I'm not a big fan of the current Hillsong stuff, but do like their earlier songs, and the small catalog of H/S stuff we have is from the earlier albums :)

Hmm... Yeah, hillsongs are awesome. But, an awesome artist is Chris Tomlin, he rocks my face off:clap:. He is very talented and his songs are very awesome i recommend buying his new cd "Arriving" if you haven't already. Other good bands would be Delirious, Jeff Deyo, *Barlow Girl*, they may not be known for there praise and worship songs, but their music and lyrics are very good, i listened to them at sonshine this summer and thought they deserved to be main stage. Matt Redman, Brian Doerksen, Caedmon's Call, FFH, Newsboys and Todd Agnew.
