Theme changed! Please help!

Last night I had a world ending dreamd that we where invaded by aliens. The aliens torchered and killed us and now I'm obsessing whether or not I was abducted or seen something thats going to happen to Earth. Now me being the christian that I am never believed in aliens but that dream scared me so much that now I can't get it out of my head. Please I know this theme doesn't really pop up much but I'm really scared. Scared to go to sleep anxious all day long cos I know it was just a dream but My OCD has latched I think on aliens.:o

Maybe this will help, i'm not sure. I know when a persons obsesses with a theme, they completely drain themselves trying to prove that the obsession isn't real, but it never works. i.e. when I thought I had committed blasphemy of the HS, i spent all day every day for weeks worrying that I had, and constantly trying to convince myself that I hadn't. No matter how much I tried to proof I had, I still couldn't force my mind to believe it. It wasn't until I just let it go, I finally stopped worrying about it. And now I can laugh at how silly it was.

Where I am going with that is this, you have probably had a lot of different themes youve obsessed over, and at the time it seemed so real. But you eventually overcame the theme, and moved onto something else. Now you can look back at some of those past obsessions and see how silly they were. When your mind wants to obsess over your current theme(nightmare), instead of focusing on that, try to remind yourself that this theme is no different than other ones you have had. And a couple months down the road you will look back on this theme, and realize how silly it was and be able to laugh at it. I know it works for me, when I feel new obsessions trying to cling, it kind of takes the steam out of them. Knowing that it isn't any different than the 100 previous obsessions that I overcame and realized were dumb.
And obviously I hope you are reading and praying The Word over yourself.

It doesn't have the punch like my last obsession but, Still anxiety provoking at that. I hate when I have nightmares and I guess this was the iceing on the cake. It was a truly horrible nightmare that left me shocked.

I used to have alien OCD! This was before it decided to become scrupulosity. I would spend several minutes before bed arranging the curtains so no light whatsoever would get in; not even a chink. My OCD told me that if I left the tiniest gap between the curtains when I went to sleep, aliens would detect me and abduct me.

The stupid thing is that I didn't believe (nor do I now) that aliens exist! When I look back on it, I almost can't believe that I actually seriously worried about this! I got rid of it in the end with ERP - I had to go to bed with the curtains all the way open. That quickly put paid to the obsessions, and I haven't worried about them since.

You'll get through this, just like you have come through so much already!

Wulp, I had another bad dream just this time it got my old theme to flare up so I'm kinda dealing with one theme after the other. IDK where I'm getting all these nightmares but there getting old really fast.
