  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Isaiah 66:24 “And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”

Mark 9:48 "thrown into hell, 48where ‘their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched.’

People think of this passage as representing Hell, perhaps it does in a symbolic way. However, this represent the war that takes place before Jesus returns. "Battle of Armageddon." It is portrayed as a great and final conflict between the forces of good (led by Jesus Christ) and evil (led by the Antichrist and his followers). The ultimate victory is seen as belonging to Jesus Christ, who returns to defeat and judge the forces of evil.

Every year the nations will send a representative to Jerusalem. They will go out and look at the corpses on the battlefield to see the remains of those who rebel against God.

Zechariah 14 16 Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. 17 And should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, then the rain will not fall on them. 18 And if the people of Egypt will not go up and enter in, then the rain will not fall on them; this will be the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

There is a thread on the second death that we are making no progress in understanding. This thread is an attempt to shed light on what happens to the people who do not come to a saving knowledge of the truth. It would appear they are destroyed. People can go to look and see how they ended up. The result of their sin and rebellion against God.

‘Their decay continuous, total destruction cannot be prevented.’ It is symbolic language about the destruction of the wicked when Jesus returns.

Revelation talks about "a sea of glass mingled with fire". Today we know about nuclear explosions. They did not know about them at the time of Jesus.

Yes, one is a type of the other. Some people get mixed up trying to understand symbolism. There is a whole best selling book written on Pardigms.
Jesus presents hell as being about fire.

We are in no position to say otherwise.

I am told there was an actual garbage dump where the fire never burned out and the worms never died. Jesus used this to explain Hell as a place where you get rid of garbage. He was talking about the end of the age and the war mongers who were against God. They say one man's trash is another man's treasure. The focus was on the fire and the worms that consumed the garbage. Isreal is ready to use Nuclear weapons if they have to, if they are under a big enough of an attack.

In context, he was talking about the eternal suffering of the damned.

I took four teacher training classes at the Bible College. We studied Jesus and how He would teach. He would take the example of a garbage dump. So they could get an image of what He was talking about when he quoted Isaiah.

Isaiah 66:24
"As they go forth, they will see the corpses of the men who have rebelled against Me; for their worm will never die, their fire will never be quenched, and they will be a horror to all mankind."

This is the end result of those who try to attack the people of God.

According to Jesus, it's also the end result of these who reject him.

It's describing heavenly vision ... not a earthly one. (Revelation 15)

That's pretty evident, don't you think?
I did find what the worm might mean, is that the WORM that eats the dead bodies will than attach themselves to a tree and then produce more young , and continue to create more worms and the word fire speaks about Judgement .
