A) Nobody is obligated to participate.
B) Questions such as 'lemon or lime' aren't going to give away one's identity.
C) The only real personal question I've asked is 'what is your middle name', which is purely optional (as I specified), in fact, all the questions are optional.
If anyone finds these questionaires risky, then they are perfectly welcome to not answer them. Nobody cares either way.
The truth is, I've been sort of stalked once in the past, and the guy knew a lot less about me then some of these questionnaires reveal or regular posting on this forum reveals. It was from a chess site and I never had a picture of myself up on the site ever and he only knew my first name. He did know I was a hygienist and that I lived in Canada. He was able to figure out my full name and find my facebook. A little creepy, lol. He wasn't harmful though (just a loser) and I just left that site immediately. I don't think he was the type to be aggressive or show up at my place ( I hope not anyway, haha). The only concern I had was that he was very tight lipped about his own identity. I really had no idea who I was talking to. Had he been very open about his own life, I would have seen it more as connecting with a new friend online.
I am sure I was very careless about other details (after chatting a few times) but he went through a lot of trouble to figure out my identity. I think someone can stalk you pretty easily if they have no life and the desire to do it. You would be amazed what simple google searches can reveal about a person. I've actually become less concerned since then. I figure if someone wants to stalk a person badly enough and knows how to research online, they can do it. I try to be careful and exercise some caution when I post, but I'd also want to enjoy getting to know others on this forum and make friends. Except for @Saucy, I am not really too concerned about the regular posters here
Personally, I think it is far wore and more concerning, when people share very private information about personal problems that include others. I would never talk about family members or friends even in code that placed those members under possible scrutiny.
