• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A) Nobody is obligated to participate.

B) Questions such as 'lemon or lime' aren't going to give away one's identity.

C) The only real personal question I've asked is 'what is your middle name', which is purely optional (as I specified), in fact, all the questions are optional.

If anyone finds these questionaires risky, then they are perfectly welcome to not answer them. Nobody cares either way.

The truth is, I've been sort of stalked once in the past, and the guy knew a lot less about me then some of these questionnaires reveal or regular posting on this forum reveals. It was from a chess site and I never had a picture of myself up on the site ever and he only knew my first name. He did know I was a hygienist and that I lived in Canada. He was able to figure out my full name and find my facebook. A little creepy, lol. He wasn't harmful though (just a loser) and I just left that site immediately. I don't think he was the type to be aggressive or show up at my place ( I hope not anyway, haha). The only concern I had was that he was very tight lipped about his own identity. I really had no idea who I was talking to. Had he been very open about his own life, I would have seen it more as connecting with a new friend online.

I am sure I was very careless about other details (after chatting a few times) but he went through a lot of trouble to figure out my identity. I think someone can stalk you pretty easily if they have no life and the desire to do it. You would be amazed what simple google searches can reveal about a person. I've actually become less concerned since then. I figure if someone wants to stalk a person badly enough and knows how to research online, they can do it. I try to be careful and exercise some caution when I post, but I'd also want to enjoy getting to know others on this forum and make friends. Except for @Saucy, I am not really too concerned about the regular posters here :p

Personally, I think it is far wore and more concerning, when people share very private information about personal problems that include others. I would never talk about family members or friends even in code that placed those members under possible scrutiny.

Well, I'm certainly glad nothing came of that then.

But that's another point though; if someone wants to know who you are bad enough, they'll usually find out, no matter how little the info you've provided. Questionnaires or no questionnaires. But for everyone's sake and feelings, I do make a point at keeping the questions pretty simple and not too personal.

If someone finds certain questions too personal, then refrain from sharing any info. I want everyone to have fun and enjoy the fellowship these type of threads create, which is my sole purpose for this thread, but I also want everyone to feel comfortable, so if staying comfortable means not sharing your eye color or what your college major is, then by all means, refrain from sharing. Please exercise your own judgement on what would be wise or unwise for you to share about yourself.

I thought these You Tests were pretty basic and harmless. I figure if someone wants to stalk me, they are going to be so disappointed when they realize how boring my real life is, haha

That is true! I've been asking you for more than 4 years now if there's anything new going on and I get the same answer..."Not really." :D :p

He isn't lying...

Don't feel bad. There was a time when everyone used to ask me what my plans for the weekend were. Now, they don't even bother to ask. When I actually do have an event to attend or I do something fun, people are so surprised, lol.

I'm very easy to stalk, once you know my full name. The thing is I've always had an usual full name for the country I live in, so it has always been easy to track me down. I don't know about other people, but when you've been aware for your entire life that no-one is as untraceable as they think they are (providing the tracer puts enough effort into it), you kind of let go a little bit.

Or at least I let go of it a little bit. I've had the stalker experience, on and offline, and those t-shirts are marvellous exhibition pieces in my gallery of life. The only way for me to be untraceable by anyone, would be to go completely off grid. I'm too vain to do that.

Experiences are what you make of them, and mine made me into a sultry emu.

haha, sultry emu:)

I have an uncommon last name as well. It is really easy to find me or figure out stuff about me if a person knows my name.

Ha, when I was 14 there was a guy I liked in school and I found out his name and address. When he introduced himself he said: I'm Peter
and I said: yes and you live on the Ridderstreet so and so Hahaha still remember the street.
I had one guy in the disco when I was 16 who found out what my address was and all of a sudden he stood in front of my door, dressed up in a leather back suit, with a moped, if I wanted to go to another disco with him.
I said: No I have to watch Derrick, a stupid German murder case program my parents always watched.

I once gave my address and telephone number to an old guy on a bike who asked me for it. Before I got home my mom said he had called a hundred times. That was a bit stupid. I said: but he was so friendly Hahaha.
My brother put on some big boots to look dangerous and went to his house with a friend to tell him he should leave me alone.
