  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Some people think and/or feel that technology is de-humanizing us. Well, the prediction for the year 6565 has already come to fruition. How many of you remember this song that was popular in the year 1969? Here are some of the lyrics.

"In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If women can survive
They may thrive

In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do and say
Is in the pill you took today

In the year 4545
Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing to chew
Nobody's gonna look at you

In the year 5555
Your arms are hanging limp at your sides
Your legs got nothing to do
Some machine is doing that for you

In the year 6565
Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too
From the bottom of a long glass tube,.... whoa

In the year 7510
If God's a-comin' he ought to make it by then
Maybe he'll look around himself and say
Guess it's time for the Judgement day

In the year 8510
God is gonna shake his mighty head then
He'll either say I'm pleased where man has been
Or tear it down and start again, woah woah"(That has already happened in the Book of Genesis during Noah's time.)

Not really something that I really would really want to play at a party. This song and them like it is a song of hopelessness. I would rather keep my sight on the great hope that I have, the great hope that you have.

When the road ends it winding croase
What is God gonna say?
Will he say will done! Will he say other things?
For all I can say Is that His son died for me.

The time frame is so inaccurate it is difficult to give any credence to the predictions he makes for each year.

Rather than thousand year intervals he should be looking at 30-year intervals.

A human genome was first sequenced in 2001 (draft version) with annotated version in 2006, and the cost was only 2.7 billion US dollars.

In 2013 the cost was 5,000 dollars.

I remember that song well, Exit.

I guess to me its a comment about are people going to live by choice and chose a life that is meaningful or not. All I know is I can chose my attitude in life and that's what I do. Its clear me while I might have an influence on the next generation they will chose for themselves just like I did. So by 2525 my influence will be about nil.

Rate of progress is often underestimated, in fact some Bible-believing Christians may even believe that overall no progress is being made because Revelation says everything is going to get worse and worse, but open the window and smell the daisies.

By 2020 the cost of each person's complete genome plus a listing of pathogenic tendencies that genome makes a person prone to should be around 5 dollars, with that information someone like Black Ribbon might be able to help a person plan how to avoid the debilitating diseases and gain an extra decade or two of healthy life.

Just a thought

My father,a deacon at our church, was like that. Just because dinosaurs were not mentioned in the Bible. He did not think that dinosaurs ever existed. I told him that on our field trips;we saw the dinosaur's huge bones.

I was told, that the devil made the fossils to test people's faith. The problem with that explanation was that I was living on the South Downs of England and it is made out of fossilized diatoms, hundreds of feet thick. When I visited Denmark the ground I saw was at least 10% fossils. There is such an enormous amount of fossilized remains that if Satan made them all then he is also a creator.

Trying to get real life to fit in what the Bible says is going to give a person a lot of confusion and possibly a big headache.

Ignoring or distorting real life is the usual way out but the drawback is it leaves the Bible Believer at a big disadvantage in this information Age.

So how do you keep your moral and ethical standards and also your integrity?

Satan does not create anything....except confusion. John 10:10 clearly states Satan's purpose here on earth. Jesus said,"The enemy comes to steal,to kill and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it (life) more abundtantly."

Dinosaurs are possibly mentioned...behemoth in Job 20:15-24 and leviathan in Job 41. I don't think pelicans, beavers, bacteria, or many other animals are specifically listed in the Bible either, but they do exist.

I think science and the Bible mesh very easily when science is used properly.

Most of the facts centered around "life" are unknown. We cannot create life from something that isn't already considered "alive". We cannot prevent death...only delay it at best. People get diseases and conditions and illness all the time that are considered "idiopathic" which means...we don't know where it came from or why this person got while the next person didn't. People don't die at times when everything says they should. People do die when everything points at survival is most likely. If that doesn't point to a higher power in charge, I don't know what does. I really don't believe that we are just "deficit" knowledge and some more time in the research lab will cure death or every disease one day. I will tell you that cigarette smoking is terrible for every cell in your body...and most people who smoke will suffer some of the consequences eventually...most likely, suffer significantly. But then there will be the very unique person who defies all odds and dies simply of old age in his/her 90's and otherwise relatively healthy. I do not think this is the person to model our lives after but rather recognize that is an example of God performing a miracle and that we are not in charge of our lives here.

In Sunday School, when I was a child, I was taught that the behemoth may have been a hippopotamus.

I guess you can understand Job 40 in three different ways depending on the Bible translation you use and your own inclination.

KJV:
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

I'll focus on VV23 and 24:

Young's literal translation:
23 Lo, a flood oppresseth -- he doth not haste, He is confident though Jordan Doth come forth unto his mouth.
24 Before his eyes doth [one] take him, With snares doth [one] pierce the nose?

KJV
23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.

CEB
23 If the river surges, he doesn’t hurry;
he is confident even though the Jordan gushes into his mouth.
24 Can he be seized by his eyes?
Can anyone pierce his nose by hooks?

I've found the CEB to be a brilliant translation, but it translates the Hebrew and Greek irrespective of whether it disagrees with modern science and this is a major known stumbling block for a lot of people.

If what the CEB says is correct, about the river going into his mouth, then at the very least Behemoth is a fish so at least a portion of the river is going in the mouth and out through the gills. But that doesn't go with the first part where he eats grass like an ox, the huge animal we know that spends a lot of time in the river then comes out and eats grass on land is the hippopotamus.

But if Job 40 in the KJV and CEB about behemoth is absolutely correct then it does not correspond to any animal we have any idea about, as none can actually drink up a river.
