The World in a Nut Shell

I didn't believe in this growing up. I thought all girls and boys were supermen and women. Nothing could or would ever happen to us that could really hurt us. But, my parents didn't teach us everything there is to know about sex. Some things were left a mystery. We had to get a book or experience them on our own. This kept us out of a lot of trouble. Sometimes the best answer is the no answer..
I believe, in my heart, that the down fall of mankind is TV. Once TV came into play all the taboo subjects started coming out in movies, sit-coms, specials and whatever else they could throw it into. The biggest problem was and still is, is WE let them. We as a nation could have stopped this, but we didn’t. Why??? Because growing up we were taught that we as one person couldn’t make the difference. Everything was teamwork. We couldn’t and wouldn’t talk to our neighbor about the sex and violence being displayed on TV. Oh, sure we would make comments like, “Did you see that? I thought it was terrible”. “ I had to turn it off”. Well, our children didn’t turn it off. They watched it because it took the mystery out of the taboo we were taught. TV made it look like no big deal.
After TV took hold the games that were being developed had to have sex in them. They just couldn’t have a picture of a woman or man running. They had to interview hundreds and hundreds of people before they found that woman or man that looked sexy. Things had to bounce just right, their shapes had to be bigger than normal and they had to dress them in almost reveling clothes.
Sex education in school.. LOL That was a joke when I went to school. Not only was it not taught, if we asked anything we were told to ask our parents. The numbers of children getting pregnant were only one or two a year. When they did get pregnant they would leave school and go some where to have their child. Most times we never saw them again. This alone was enough for the girls to abstain.
Along came the Internet and Porn. God help us if we need to search for something. Some how the porn sites have filtered into every aspect of our lives. We wanted to buy prim rib on the Internet for a special party. I typed in Prim Rib and what I got back I can’t even begin to tell you. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that the Internet is a wonderful thing, when used for the right things. With the Christian web sites showing up I found a better way to show God’s love for us all. I spent 5 years searching the Internet for Inspirational stories. I found hundreds of web sites with them. Out of thousands and thousands of stories I collected over 500 of them. I then was introduced to some very good Christian sites and started posting the stories. After reading them I decided that they were to good and the messages were so good I had to share them with everyone. I now have 56 people that receive the stories from an email list and I post them on several different message boards. As I was blessed by them, now others are being blessed. How much further they go after being posted and sent, I have no idea. I know they’re being passed around two correction facilities. I’ve had reports that they are being passed around until they fall apart. Some of the people in there get no mail and they look forward to the stories every day. I’ve had a report from one guard that the violence on that floor has all but stopped and that the inmates are treating each other with respect.
Is my mission in life a good one? I don’t know except that I feel that God is smiling at what is happening. The stories are making people think and teaching lessons in terms they everyone can understand. They reach in and touch the heart as only a GREAT story can. After reading them, they make me want to be a little better today than yesterday. God has helped me to be better than I could ever be on my own. HE has taken the Internet and is using it to better people with. So, smile and know that God is watching you. No matter what you’re going through, HE has never left your side. Rather it is us that leave HIS side.
I’ve heard it put this way… When I was little I was talking on the phone with God. Then I heard a knock on the door. When I went to answer it I left and didn’t come back home until many years later. I noticed the phone off the hook and went over and picked it up. I heard a small voice and put the receiver to my ear. I asked who was on the line. God said, “It’s ME, I’ve been waiting for you”. I dropped the phone and cried. It was then that I realized that God had never left me, I had left HIM.
