then why hebrews 11:39-40?

That is being very specific that the Work of Christ was for all of mankind. God worked with man in the OT the same way He does with us in the NT. But the form it took in the NT is different. It is also a difference of a future promise fulfilled and we live in the fulfillment. But the text is very clear that they would not be apart from us. The OT saints participated in the death and resurrection of Christ just we have, but theirs was future, not realized and fulfilled.
